Hello!
I don’t post often nor at all really. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this. Though I want to at least place this somewhere, where it can be seen. Hopefully.
I had decided to main Evoker/Dracthyr when they were announced. I like that high fantasy feel and it kind of reminded me a bit of a Dragonborn from DnD and one of my favorite character I had. So I knew where I was going. Fast forward to launch time period.
I spent the money to be able to play my new class/race early. Thus my main for DF was in stone. So much so that I have a hard time playing an alt because of how much I enjoy the class. Or well did that is.
10.1 first ‘major’ patch. RWF is going off and it it intense. At this time the legendary was already dataminded, but to see it drop was a sight. We get told we can now try to get it on all difficulties.
I got my Heroic Sark kill on 17 May. Awesome! Time to grind out the norm and heroic. Increase my odds. 2 months of most Evokers just waiting and not knowing anything… 2 months wort sawh of Sark normal and heroic kills. To be told you have a better chance to only kill him onc,
I am hearing people get this weapon left and right
Point is I have be on this hunt for good amount of time and there is a huge flaw to this.
Why are fresh evoker getting it first try? Or what are people who didn’t play evoker at raid start getting it?
It doesn’t seem fair for those of us main evoker. I mean look at Preheats recent stream. There is a huge discrepancy and we are being met with silence.
I am in the top 100 on my realm for evoker but some guys alted played to see how it is evoker got it week 2 in normal? Doesn’t seem right to me.

Hate to break it to yah but 2100 io isn’t that great and your ability to clear a timer or score doesn’t affect RNG. Does it suck? Yeah it does. But there are people clearing mythic sark every week that still don’t have it. My guild has 2 of them. It’s a strong weapon but doesn’t make or break the class. It’s not going away you’ll always be able to go back kill sark and have a shot at the gem. Things like thunderfury medivh staff hand of ragnaros…even the warglaives from BT. The whining and moaning is honestly hysterical. The rarity is what makes it legendary they finally made it feel special not just some run of the mill thing that every Johnny rando has.

I am on Moon Guard homie. I said for my realm. I wasn’t saying top 100 of the world or reign/area however you spell it. Nor did I say it does effect my RNG and sorry if that was implied I believed that.
I am aware that it doesn’t make or break the class. I would say it is more based on the principle of that matter at this rate. You have the right to find it funny by all means. I suppose though if you haven’t wasted hours on kill Sark on a mode you didn’t need because there was nothing said on how the drop works for months, you would find it funny. Or how literally people are steamrolling making evokers, till they get it.
Those you mentioned before more or less worked off the weapons being based on the raids lore. Not a class lore like this one. Again I am not trying to discredit what you are saying but I suppose if you don’t main the class, you wouldn’t understand the frustration in the Evoker community is right now.

I’m right there with you. I’m an evoker main, I love my character, I find playing her super fun. DF is my first time ever raiding. When I heard I might be able to earn a legendary weapon that is steeped in the lore of my character’s race I was so excited! Now I know the truth is I’m just being asked to of gamble over an extended period of time. It sucks. It doesn’t feel good.
And people are saying the rarity is what makes it feel special. It doesn’t have to be that way. An epic quest line… a huge grind… some great narrative… all those could make an item feel special to the player that earns it. But I guess folks don’t want fellow players to have fun or feel invested. They just want a lottery for social status or whatever.

Haha I do main evoker I’m in the top 60 devokers on my realm. A long “grind” doesn’t make it feel epic it just makes it whoever has the biggest wallet or pool of resources. And btw once you get the gem you still got clear the raid to make a part. You have to grind out camps (content that doesn’t benefit my main at all)… digs ( again doesn’t benefit).
If you’re only doing the raid just for the Lego I wouldn’t want you in my team. It’s meant to boost your group/raid. You clearly want it for the “status” had it since week 3 and have yet to use it as a note to get into groups.
It can have many different meanings. To me it means the commemoration of “baby dragon’s first raid” and a deepening of my connection to my character’s lore. To each their own.
I don’t PUG much, I don’t know who I would show off my “status” symbol to, and it has literally never occurred to me to use it as a way to get myself invites to groups. It seems odd to me, like I personally wouldn’t want to join a group that just accepted me on the basis of ownership of one item, but to each their own.

It does seem to be extraordinarily RNG this time. It would have been better… FAR BETTER…if it had been like Shadowmourn where getting the base weapon was relatively easy but upgrading it to legendary took time and effort…and not just 2 WoW tokens and done within a day for a few ultra-random luckies.
To me, it seems like a lazy money-grab with little regard for the potential enjoyment of players that have decided to dedicate themselves to the new class.

“I put in the hard work to get this.” says the person playing their evoker alt they just rolled 3 days ago, as they get the drop in LFR. “I deserve this.”
Meanwhile the mythic raider who has been running multiple difficulties for weeks (due to blizzard not coming out and saying right away how the difficulty drops worked.) “…Maybe I’ll finally get lucky this week…”

This!
I would rather spend the 4-6 weeks gathering something like Neltharion’s Essence off of raid bosses than I would spending that same 4-6 weeks hoping to even see the gem ever drop for me.

Thinking, maybe like 50k of something needed, with 2k average per week, but sometimes people are lucky, and can get 50k in a single week. Still similar, but visible bad luck protection.

That is what I am saying! Like I feel like time is being wasted. Like there is already stuff I need to do. Get my 16+s done for the week, get ready for raid, do my weeklies, level my profs, etc. Now you are adding that if I want this item I HAVE to kill last boss, and hope a group will take their 10th+ evoker to.

Preach. It isn’t something that we should be BANGING our heads against as mains.

So you already had it. Early to some. Your points more or less are basically telling us to stop /crying/ because truth be told it doesn’t effect you anymore?

It does effect me cus the more evokers that have it raid the better but the crying about not having the new “shiny” is typical of the generations wow players. At most you have had 8 chances to loot the gem on your evoker (8 resets since mythic kill) so if you pull it out in the next 2 weeks that’s still a 10% drop rate. Just because you reroll a new evoker try lfr don’t get it doesn’t change the drop rate of your main. Is it dumb mythic isn’t 1 guarantee… absolutely it’s the end boss of this season, but then with enough gold you can buy a mythic sark kill and essentially pay to win your Lego.
It’s really aggravating to see a brand new character get it to drop but multiple kills not drop one. This guy literally first time killing the boss got the gem in my group today.

Where are you getting this 8 chances? The chance is the same across the board, or at least that is what Blizz is saying. So even if you run on Mythic, that was your one shot that week. Doing LFR-Norm-H-Mythic in that order equals out to be the same chance as doing the highest. I have killed him 20 times in total with the mix of H, norm, and one LFR.
One your mentions of ‘this generation of wow players’. That is a biproduct of Blizzard. They have conditioned and created that. With how Legos changed over time. I have been playing since late BC. In my time and what I have experienced. This is the only legendary handled like this.
BC: You had the Warglavies and the Bow, which were just a drop chance, and several classes could use it.
Shadowmore? Shadowman. You got a base item that you upgraded through out
Than you get to like Legion and it was RNG but for your class, than they made a way to get them via a currency.
BFA you got the cloak that you upgraded, and had a function within the raid.
Shadowlands you crafted them.
This one there is base item, you get a quest, than craft so now you have to spend nearly 700k gold on mats for it. I feel like saying it is because of a generation is not right, you have the right to believe that, but through looking at how others were handled. This one is ‘harder’ and more ‘taxing’.
Again Blizzard made the player base like this how they made it easier to get these types of items through out the years.
You are right. Gold can solve it but lets say that a Mythic kill is 3 tokens worth, now you have to spend like 3 tokens worth of gold to even make it sooo now you are looking at 6 tokens worth spent.
There just seems to be a disconnect with how, some think it should’ve been handled. A drop rate that they won’t even tell us, and having silence for 2 months on how it is handled in terms of chance, seems wrong too. There is more layers to this than ‘I want give me’.

There have been 8 chances to kill Sark on the max difficulty since RWF ended, which is when the gem opened up for drops.
He’s saying that if it’s the reported 6% drop chance, and you have been killing sark every reset, you STILL aren’t “unlucky” yet per the drop chance.
In fact, I think you would have to kill Sark something like 9 more times without seeing the gem to be below the 6% drop rate.
This concept of ‘peoples alts got it first kill’ is obviously annoying, but that’s how RNG works. The level of entitlement people feel toward this lego (and every item in the game) is wild. You and I both can literally get more dps out of our characters by just getting better and increasing our parse by like 5-10%.
Obviously I’d love to get the lego too, but the multiple posts a day from people saying the same thing are just getting out of hand. I do agree that Blizzard dropped the ball letting me care about killing normal sark for months when it didn’t matter, but it is what it is.
No, it’s not. Some of the first legendaries in the game required much more of a gold equivalency in materials to create, had even lower drop chances (and in some cases needed 2 separate drops), and didn’t have an easy out like buying a token in order to acquire the materials. You also didn’t have 4 difficulties, so it was only available to those that were actively raiding AND being given the pieces (if they even dropped) by their guilds.
It’s okay not to have stuff.

Noticing a trend of people who are using the word “entitled” with respect to this topic. I don’t quite get it. I haven’t seen a post by an evoker yet who says “I deserve this weapon, Blizzard, give it to me”. I have seen posts by evokers saying “I’m playing a video game where I want to be able to set and work towards goals, and this design is making that frustrating”.
