Balancing PVP servers with a mega server? Sure. But why consolidate the PVE realms at the same time?
Most PVE realms are healthy right now as they are. Let them keep their identities, the familiarity players have with each other, and the open world at a manageable level.
EDIT: Classic wow was server based. Losing that loses a large feel of what made classic classic.
Because they are consolidating. It has nothing to do with “the health of the game” and everything to do with, consolidating. They’ve developed servers that they can layer to handle very large populations, and consolidating makes sense for them…
Wouldn’t be surprised if that could be either a test for Classic+ or simply make pvp realms more attractive as if you merge alliance/horde on a pve realm this means you’ll have to compete for ressources more but won’t be able to do a thing about it.
I still think some merge would be great but not sure one megarealm for pve is the answer.
what do you mean with “healthy”? I would welcome more people/guilds that are doing things during the morning/afternoon rather than the same night hours
Blizzard should merge all the PvE servers and all the PvP servers. They already admitted they can balance PvP servers, so why not do that just like they said they would with Grobbulus? The fact is, players chose to play on a PvP server and accepted the rules and risks. Turning PvP servers into PvE servers is pointless.
Blizzard wants to hand out free transfers to Grobbulus, but that’s not a real fix. Do they really think players will abandon the guilds they’ve built just because Blizzard failed to do their job and protect server health? Letting Blizzard get away with this sets a bad precedent. If players don’t want world PvP, they should have rolled on a PvE server not a PvP one.
its not blizzards job to force balance on servers its the players job and a long time ago 95% of classic players decided WPvP sucks and they all went to PvE servers
not many(if any) will go to grobb when ever this change goes live
in a couple weeks 95% of players will be on PvE servers getting people ready for warmode
As usual you don’t want players to have the option to reconsider their choice. You want them to be forced to play your way or punished. I’ve reconsidered choices I’ve made 6 months ago and changed my mind but you don’t want someone just playing a game to reconsider their choice they made 5 years ago. I get that you’re so moribund that you don’t reconsider or change even after years but most people live and grow and make changes.
It clearly says it’s converting all servers to PvE (Only Grobb staying as the big pvp server) into 1 big.
No PvE server will suffer, and PvP players will have a free transfer to Grobb maintaining the faction balance.
That is a good point. Blizzard hasn’t exactly a “stellar” reputation with respect to its phasing technology. It would have been nice if they had addressed the hundreds of bugs currently plaguing Mists Classic before trying to implement a mega-server. Maybe their hopes are that any NEW issues that crop up after the merge will distract people from the hundreds of current bugs in the game.
No its not. Plenty of servers are doing completely fine and are happy. One mega server trans means you lose all your guild achievements, possibly your names, and you will most likely have more lag, more contested zones and queues. Let alone how the economy will explode.
People wanted dead servers to merge with others, not one mega server.
The problem here is that the free migration to a mixed server like Globulus (is that how it is pronounced?) does not serve for the world pvp activity in MoP in this what would be 5.1, that is, pvp event Krasarang, but rather the crosserver exists for all the MoP classic servers since the community is very divided between Classic servers, MoP and Retail servers, and we need more activity between players to be able to experience this phase.
