Leather armor users. What old dungeons and raids have the best gear in your opinion?

Question is in the title.

I am in serious need of some Transmog options and the older content is all I am able to farm at the moment. So what are the best dungeons and raids for leather gear in your opinion?

Edit: and yes I know about the set tab in the appearance options. I’m just curious what the community considers to be the best places to go.

Eh, depends on what you’re looking for, It is only a tad better for gear than mail. If it is for your DH sadly a lot of gear that will fit you comes from legion and that has the dumb personal loot system still even when running it solo.

My preference though is WoD has a lot of good for each armor type and I’m biased with MoP being a monk and all

Eh it doesn’t need to be DH specific or anything. I plan I mogging my glaives as swords or axes anyway. So I was thinking I would also use a bit less “Demon Hunter” gear as a whole.

Every other DH I come across looks the same it feels like. So I thought I would try and stand out a bit.

I recommend getting the assassination garb from burning crusade dungeons. arcatraz, mechanar, black morass, sethekk halls, and shadow labs.

along the way you’ll also unlock reputation for various factions, and that comes with a slight boost for your current class, a class-specific version of gear. If you’re on a rogue you’ll get the opportunist’s garb, which is a reskin that a lot of people think looks better.

The belt and boots from assassination work with both, but really aren’t that necessary as long as you have any black belt or boots.

While I understand you’re not SPECIFICALLY looking for DH stuff, Legion Raids have some absolutely amazing pieces. Antorus in particular has some of the best sets in the game, not just for leather, but all armor.

As for soloable stuff, Blackrock Foundry has a few interesting leather pieces, and SoO might have a few good pieces as well.

Idk I just look at the appearance tab occasionally and see what I don’t have when Im looking to farm mog.

yes thats one of the best things to do then you can go after something you really like

I found Mythic and Heroic Hellfire Citadel (the WoD raid) pretty cool for Green and Black leather. Mythic drops a cool green sword from that Council fight.

The Naxx wing with Patchwork and Thaddius can drop a couple cool swords.

Ulduar drops cool swords too.

BT for Illidans mask or the savagery swords or what ever else.

Do you still need full groups for Legion raids?

Depends on your gear and competency level. They’re definitely solo-able up to a certain point at 120. A handful of semi-conscious 120s should be able to handle pretty much anything, but Kil’jaeden in ToS is still perfectly capable of wiping even a full group of 120s that don’t pay attention to mechanics.

Mythic Emerald Nightmare and Nighthold raids in Legion you can get the DH set and almost all of the Rogue set minus the chest and cloak.

Pandaria raids like Siege of Orgrimar have really cool rogue pieces that look nice on a DH.

Also if you have 12 honor tokens go buy the PVP sets from Dalaran. You can get 10 tokens per character if you do the AV 15th anniversary quest.

Wait you can use rogue sets on DHs?

Individual pieces that drop and aren’t specific tier set pieces yes. There are tier lookalikes that drop in the raids.

Oh okay. I didn’t know that. Never had a rogue before :stuck_out_tongue:

There ya go.

The sad plight of all leather wearing classes.

Really does depend on what you’re looking for.

Vanilla is probably your best “basic-looking set” option, although that’s more quest rewards/BoE greens than dungeon/raid drops. Blackwing Lair does have some pretty flashy weapon options, though.

The Burning Crusade is probably best for tmogs that make you stand out in a crowd, even if you don’t try to go full clown suit with it. I’d say it has the most distinctive-looking weapons, and those largely come from Heroic dungeons. The armor sets are mostly an acquired taste, although the Black Bloodfang recolor is pretty good.

Wrath of the Lich King items are mostly duller in color if you’re into that sort of thing. The weapons in some of the dungeons and raids aren’t bad, but I’d hard skip the dungeon armor sets. Ulduar and ICC may be passable as far as they go, though.

Cataclysm is pretty much a repeat of WotLK. Firelands is great if you’re going for a “fiery” transmog. Most of everything else is kinda forgettable leather-wise.

If you’re going for a Monk-styled set, Mists of Pandaria is your best bet. It has some excellent sets as far as those looks go. Ditto for “Asian” weapon aesthetics. Dungeon stuff is once again pretty forgettable, though.

WoD has some good “savage” item aesthetics, both in terms of weapons and armor. I’d recommend Mythic HFC if you’re going for a fel theme.

Legion is even better as far as the Fel theme goes and obviously has some great thematic DH sets, but the lack of legacy loot rules makes it rough to farm stuff out, comparatively.

And I don’t think I need to summarize BFA stuff here, since we’re currently on it.

This set works, there’s alternative color’s in nighthold I think

Holy crap. Thank you!

I didn’t know there would be a comprehensive list like that.

It’s good as it even lists the greens and such that are designed as sets but not sets in the collection tab. Good luck hunting some of those though. Some have a max droprate of 0.14%

I have an addon called MogIt to have an advanced mog preview in game. Paired with the WoWhead sets addition.
