If this system is superior why were subs so much higher in Wrath when catch up gear was awarded via badges from doing old content and not daily?
Thatâs a really stupid question that is quite literally ignoring every design decision that has caused players to leave the game over the years.
The same style of catch-up gear in WotLK existed throughout Cata and MoP, and yet, the total subscriber count for both expansions was less than WotLK. Why? Because Blizzardâs other design decisions throughout Cata and MoP caused folks to leave over time.
not to mention demographic changes
It isnât a stupid question at all.
Catch-up gear has a huge negative impact on parts of the game. It reduces available content by making things obsolete when the next tier comes out, and it encourages the âcyclical playerâ who only plays for a few weeks every patch. Because why not? Everything you accomplish is going to be made irrelevant when the next patch comes out, anyway.
Thatâs why Burning Crusade kept entertaining wave after wave of new players at a time when the game was still bringing in millions of new accounts: Tier 4 and Tier 5 remained relevant throughout the entire expansion. There was always TONS of content for new players to get involved with.
The âcatch-up gear modelâ that Blizzard is currently using seems more interested in catering to people who quit and come back, rather than to loyal customers who remain subscribed. With predictable results.
Uhh, yes it isâŚ
Like, I really shouldnât have to point this out. But the biggest cause of subscriber drops in WoW happened during WoD, and it was because of how bad that expansion was in respect to cut content, Blizzardâs response on flying, and how the expansion was cut short compared to previous expansions. Over 5 million people stopped playing WoW during that time.
Blizzard has not, as far as we know, been able to regain those losses and has lost even more subscribers over time. Even if we ignore those other losses over time (throughout Legion and BFA) and said that Shadowlands had 5 million subscribers, it would still have less than WotLK (which had, I believe, 11 million subscribers before Cata launched which boosted it up to 12 million for a little while at least), and that subscriber count would have nothing to do with catch-up gear systems and how they were implemented.
Flying stands out as the main issue, there. And Blizzard still hasnât corrected their mistake.
The other main issue was that WoDâs launch patch had nothing to do outside of dungeons & raids, something we repeatedly pointed out throughout beta.
And Warlords DID have catch-up gear: Tanaan Jungle loot was equivalent to Blackrock Foundry gear.
So donât try and blame WoDâs failures on a lack of catch-up gear.
So no leaderboards?
No tooltip stats out in the open world?
No run count?
No party information?
Guess most will still use raider io
Anyone know if raider io are updating their scoring system now that apparently tyrann/fort now have an impact score wise (atleast in blizz io)
But I didnât do thatâŚ
How can you be so ignorant of whatâs right in front of you?
I said WoDâs problems had NOTHING to do with catch up gear. The person I replied to that asked the stupid question was asking why, if catch-up gear is so great, was Shadowlands sub count not equal to or higher than WotLKâs count, which used a different catch-up systemâŚ
And here you are arguing why that isnât a stupid question, making arguments on points I never made.
I guess I got confused in the train of the conversation, then.
Sadly after reading the article and some off the comments I honestly think this will be the worst thing Blizz has done to the game since I have been playing with this is gives those who are geared with high Ilvl gear the power to do exactly what high ilvl geared raiders do and that is shut the low ilvl geared people out and the best example i can give right now if your not high ilvl gear and have AOTC it doesnât matter if you know the mechanics or not on a mythic raid ,your not going to get in⌠This type of _____ is what ruins the game and the fun to be had
We are just adopting the blizzard score and implementing it into the addon.
The âGroup Finderâ pic is inaccurate, as it does not show all the [WTS] listings that flood itâŚ
Where do I go to see the rating received from a mythic+ completed? The UI only shows the best runsâ ratings, not the last dungeon. Is this included in the API?
Screw your mythic+ rating. Delete tyrannical. Scum.
