Lead Game Designer promised a way to reach Ordos 8 Years ago

I wonder if now that Devs are listening, we can get the promissed by current lead game designer regarding a way to reach Ordos, actually I’d like to see those drops removed from BMAH and just that part of the island available for everyone, even better bring back de cloak questline.

You can check his tweets to Perculia from wowhead in 2014,

The priority for this is so low it’s underground and probably why they forgot.

This kind of thing should be like a hotfix, if only we got those on a weekly,bi weekly basis. I know a lot of players only see m+,raid, pvp…but there’s a lot of small things that can be handle via hotfixes

Eight years…kinda feeling old here…it did not seem that long ago :face_holding_back_tears:

And why did this need another topic made today exactly?

It’s different to show the community that this was promised as the main topic that the other thread just asking for the concern, a lot of players doesn’t know that sometimes Devs mention something just on other platforms which leads to this kind of situations on which never gets implemented in game.

They stated at the time they changed their minds, that they felt that they wanted to keep Ordos special and that was the end of it, they never spoke of it again.

PS nothing in this game is promised or guaranteed.

Could you link that information? because the last thing i know about Ordos was these tweets from Lead GD and I don’t recall any Dev info regarding why a World Boss should be something unique.

Yes, at the end they stated and choose to keep it as a reward boss for those who had the cloak. They stated it in a video way back then when asked. I think it was Ion himself that said it. But I am not 100% sure.

If anything, they should at least add the quests back in. The Ordon Sanctuary doesn’t really serve much purpose story-wise (from what I remember, someone correct me if I’m wrong), but those removed quests absolutely leave a huge hole in the events of MoP that now you can only read about on a wiki page or something. New players only have a chance to get introduced to Wrathion if they’re a rogue going back to get the legendary daggers from Cataclysm, or if they hang around in BfA long enough to do the 8.3 content. But with BfA it’s kinda jarring to have Wrathion come in and all the lore figures know who he is, but the player’s had absolutely no prior introduction to him whatsoever.

Well that’s true and most of those events involve Wrathion which is an important character for Dragonflight, he ate the heart of the thunder king…there’s a lot of lore there that was removed.

It would probably be pretty cool to run around in Pandaria a little bit while doing the cloak quest lines. Even though the cloak is powerless now; Pandaria was still a great continent with great soundtracks.

Imo, release the cloak from the confined restrictions. It neither helps nor hinders anyone in current retail. It will serve only as an experience of gathering a long lost moment lost in time swallowed up by newer experiences in newer expansions. Pretty sure some tiny cinematics we’re tied up to that leggo cloak; so it’ll provide some players with a little bit of story in Pandaria. Cloak is part of the lore especially since Pandaria was retail many years ago.

Also, if Wrathion is to have a role or part in Dragonflight, it would make sense to have players become a little more familiar with his appearance and past partakings; this way players have a way to internalize who Wrathion is and hopefully build some attachment to him making him a character cemented in the World of Warcraft.

It’s not necessarily about the cloak. It’s about the story. Sure, any time Wrathion’s involved in quests there’s some sort of significant character progression tied to it (he really does like to offer power in exchange for doing his bidding), but I think the story events are the important thing here rather than any rewards tied to them.

Exactly, new players won’t feel the same about the burning of teldrassil and its impact on BFA,SL story and even future events because the questlines for pre patch were removed from the game.
