I predict that the initial zones for Draenei/BE will be unbearably crowed to play in the first few days of prepatch. So please add layers back to the big servers.
Wouldn’t doubt those as well as the 55+ zones because of boosts. Yeah, it’s gonna get ugly. I hope it’s all a big hit and lots of people play though 
Depends on your server. The beta and ptr were pretty smooth. I imagine they were layered for days.
What does it matter if lots of people play if you get layered? Layers just make the world feel half dead, even though its actually packed. Who cares if its “full” when you can not witness it in all its glory

I don’t know what kind of layering you played on, but I was here at Classic launch. And even with the layers there were lines of people waiting for quest objects to spawn. It was crazy. You’re being melodramatic and speaking as if there will be a layer for every handful of people.

Each player gets their own personal layer after purchasing the “play your way layer package” in the cash shop.
Friends may be invited to the layer for an addition $1.99 per slot.

Thats good for you, but I was just pointing out that it wont matter if its packed. If its packed and there are no layers you can still play but you wont be able to quest. If its packed and layered it will just feel empty most of the time, but you can do your quests.
So whats it matter if its packed or not? as long as you can do the quests.
Was just pointing out the absurdity of the hope of having a packed start. Specially for ppl that are “team layer”
I started classic day 1. The biggest part i remembered was the 4 hour queues on the log in servers.
The layered servers felt alive for the first week. Then they kept layers in and it was just like a “normal” realm. You see some people here or there. Thats it. Although the server is filled to the brim, and you should see tons of ppl. Layering managed to tone it down to a half filled lvl experience i guess.

I think they must have started layers after a certain amount of ppl. Then went to a max qty if layers. Then started adding players yo those layers. Because i sae ss of a loy of players on some servers. But on my server the layers created what seemed to be very low population. And server was showing High pop.
He said he wanted to play. He prefers playing over a packed server.
Yeah, we had completely different experiences.

It’s not absurd to hope that lots of people jump in to play, especially at the start. That means people are interested, maybe some are paying that weren’t paying for a few months. You want lots of people interested in playing an mmo. That’s where money comes from, and money is what causes decisions to be made to keep things going and work on them.
You just want something to complain about.
My assumption is that they are already adding layers and there will be a ton of them, they just haven’t announced it yet. I guess we’ll figure that out soon enough.

During the screenrant interview holly repeated the words:
“We’re guided by the principle that anybody who wants to be able to play should be able to play and so we’re tackling everything we can possibly think of to make that the reality in both pre-patch and at the Dark Portal.”.
I took that to mean there will be layers for both. Or sharding.
I see no reason why they would introduce sharding, when they have layers that (despite the economic issues) at least helped with the questing and general world experience.
I hope there’s heavy layering through launch for a smooth start.
