They did actually promise it multiple times saying that having 2 kazzaks on a server would be problematic as there is only supposed to be 1, they literally used kazzak as the example for why.
So an overpopulated server should get twice as much resources including world bosses?
or maybe Blizzard should’ve just kept it with less changes instead of trying to minimize the number of servers they created by loading everyone onto megaservers they never wanted.
Of course not. I’m not advocating for changes. I think it’s a bad thing to have layering.
I’m just saying that you can’t pin Blizzard with this because they use weasel words to avoid accountability. I linked the question you’re talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-GobXQTf6w
They later said that Phase 2 would not come until all realms were on one layer, and they kept their word on that, but they never said they wouldn’t bring layering back.
i advocate for 1 large change a month to give the hashtag no changes folks a healthy cycle of things to complain about, as they seem in desperate need of a varied hobby
anyway, as has been said, look into the botting problem. seeing a lot of strange behaviors in low level areas with high mob density (beyond the usual one or two mages farming xp)
You dont need to sub if you just stay under level 20 as a trial account and die near a lotus spawn and wait for it to spawn.
It’s par for the course in the video game industry these days.
Preaching to the choir, my friend.
great work blizz! now there’s no doubt more lotus spawns on top of more layers! lmaoo
Maybe it has something to do with the staggering number of bots that recently showed up since you opened up character creation?
Possibly?
Perhaps?
maybe… I don’t know… they should have created more servers at the start and never have relied on layers?
Dude there is “faithful recreation” and there is going back in time 15 years…
Get off your f’ing high horse… queues weren’t a positive back then and they aren’t a positive now. Back then the only answer they had was spin up new realms and offer free transfers off the server to those new realms.
“Faithful recreation” is in terms of the actual combat, talent trees, raids, mechanics, progression… not the utter disaster that the vanilla servers were with multiple hours of maintenance every week and servers deteriorating over the course of the week into an utter lag fest…
Faithful recreation isn’t a time machine and doesn’t mean that classic cannot adopt new technological solutions to problems that make it actually impossible for people to play (crashing/lagging servers… queues… etc).
No! If you want instant queues re-roll Alliance. Merc Mode needs to stay in Retail.
I just want to point out with queues over 2000 banning a few hundred bots wont do much for the queues, this is players playing the game more and blizzard not understanding that ZG caused more people to log on more times during the week.
It has been a very high priority for us to understand why, after we de-layered ten realms on May 14, these two realms reversed course and experienced this, while the others did not.
Ban the bots.
Really not a difficult to understand why.
Cool now please relax the transfer restrictions if the player has a level 60 already on the desired target realm.
but theres low pop servers. Creating more is not the answer
Fixed this for you.
they were created within days of launch and people were offered free ways off big pops. Cant hold players hands much more
Since the reality of layers coinciding with the AQ release is very real now, how will this happen?
There are three scenarios:
-
No layers. The massive event brings about more and more players, compiling on the issue of more players due to covid. Queues are multi-hours and thousands of people can’t sign on for the event.
-
Layers with one gate. One layer has the event, tough luck if you’re on the wrong one.
-
Layers with a gate per layer. So there will be multiple gate openings per server?? O.o
Please actually look ahead and address these issues beforehand. Honestly, I have been accepting of your handling of vanilla overall. But your willingness to facilitate megaservers, not include enough servers of vanilla size at launch, not anticipating repercussions of doing so, and making numerous changes over and over to capitulate to players that are unwilling to deal with the repercussions of rolling on a megaserver is extremely disappointing.
It truly seems this project has been miss handled, and without any predictive models of how the game will respond to megaservers. My concern is this will occur again in TBC.
TBC is an even smaller zone - what happens when megaservers are brought over to the TBC platform?
It looks like we’re going to have layered World of Changecraft for the duration of the Classic experiment; all due primarily to a single issue: megaservers.
Did ya’ll really layer realms AND leave the extra black lotus spawns open on all layers? INC 20g lotus prices, stock up boys.
Keep layering on permanently. But let players with a level 60 on whitemane paid transfer their level 60 alts over.
The only reason I leveled an alt was to avoid queues. Blizzard got rid of queues with out addressing the population problem… fine… but let me bring my alt over then.
Yeah, nah.
Rerolling is a non option. I want to play with my friends. We rolled as a guild as Horde, as we’ve played since day 1 years ago. We did so during name reservation and didn’t know what would happen to the population.
Blizzard is making changes due to excessive queues prohibiting play. It’s the same issue and should be addressed.
Layers and merc mode both are retail solutions to resolve over population. There’s no reason not to include it.
