Lawsuit Timeline Summary + Lore articles

Questifer confirmed recently that now each team as CDev for help and purview

But that doesn’t inspire confidence in the future

And doesn’t explain EA: K

So who writes the zone quests and who write the overarching main narrative that pushes an entire expansion along?

Apparently:

Previous Standard:

  • Quest Devs do whatever they want
  • CDev did not have any editorial purview

New Standard (seemingly since Legion onward)

  • All Teams have a CDev liaison of some sort with editorial purview (how much? dunno)
  • The Leadership meets and agrees on a “vision”

Paragame Media is CDev purely.

Ergo my Concern.

Well clearly whoever is writing the zone quests are doing a pretty decent job at it.

The main problem is the main narrative which is so bad it honestly feels like its by design by a mean kid. I would be howling with laughter if the Zone quests are being written by those with little background in writing and the main story is being handled by pros

Where did she say this btw?

few months back on twitter

For what it’s worth, Sarah Cotner (quest designer who took point on the Maldraxxus leveling story) made a Twitter reply a few months ago indicating that she had to get some sort of approval from the Narrative Design team in order to put Alexandros in the story.

I’m not sure how much the old CDev has a direct equivalent to the current teams; that is, I’m not sure there’s anyone who has the same responsibilities Chris Metzen had (and if so I think that’s probably a good thing just for the sake of not overburdening one person). Lydia Bottegoni officially succeeded him in terms of job title, but I have no idea if she’s as involved in coming up with lore as Metzen was or what power she holds over the game teams. My impression based on what limited information I’ve read is that the various Blizzard game teams (Team 2 in the case of WoW) have their own narrative design departments that oversee the game story, and Story & Franchise Development is a completely independent team that works on various game-adjacent content across all the Blizzard IPs. Narrative Designers like Steve Danuser, Diandra Lasrado, and Anne Stickney seem to be part of Team 2 (although confusingly Danuser also lists a second, separate job title of “Principle Narrative Designer at Blizzard Entertainment,” whatever that means), while writers like Christie Golden and Andrew Robinson are part of S&FD. Terran Gregory used to be part of S&FD as a cinematics director even though he almost exclusively worked on WoW, but he moved to Team 2 a few months ago while gaining the new job title of “Lead Cinematic Narrative Designer,” which seems to be a new position created for him. Christie Golden consistently insists that despite her title of Senior Writer she has no real power over what the game story is, instead indicating that while Team 2 may have meetings with S&FD over various story elements and writers like Golden can give feedback, Team 2 has the ultimate editorial power over what the story is. I have no idea if that authority extends all the way to the top of S&FD, or if writers like Golden just aren’t far up enough the chain of command to have that sort of power. To further add to the confusion, no one on Team 2 seems to have directly succeeded Alex Afrasiabi in his job title of Senior Creative Director on WoW, so I’m not sure how much his responsibilities were divided amongst various other positions.

I know these are cursed words on the Forums… but I have been eager for ways to integrate WoW and my phone when I am not able to play. The current phone app is something I enjoy. I can do missions while away from home - at least it is something.

I don’t do pet battles at all, but if I could do them through my phone, and earn rewards in game, I would pet battle more than I do now, for sure.

The one thing I like about the current wow phone app is you can do missions across all the expansions that have mission tables

There was a bit of a stink about the part where they mentioned “premium content.” However, it was a quote from last year, and the game hasn’t been monetized to all hell… anymore than it already is, I mean.

What I think is intended here is not another extension for the MMORG but a completely separate Warcraft mobile game. Maybe something like RAIDS.

You are Cursewords on the forums, yes

Good news for WoW, at least in terms of gameplay.

New player concerns will be addressed maybe? No more gatekeeping from old vets? I’ve been linking this Grandblade tweet all over GD.

Also Baal,

Erevien was probably talking about me and Alynsa, not you. He got banned for saying that Arabs like me had no place in the west.

At this point blizzard should just block his IP address.

If he is going to create more free trial alt accounts to bypass a ban (which is against the CoC), Blizzard has to put a stop to it permanently.

Oh yeah, we def did that. I prefer to think some mod saw me make a few snide remarks about how BannedBoi makes the kind of racist comments some other mods like and felt moved to act.

No, he just gets unbanned on the current trial. Which is why I’ve long assumed there’s a mod or a few who approve of BannedBoi’s rhetoric against middle easterners and other minorities.

In his tweet he claims that he will just create new accounts to post on the forums.
