Launch Date Confusion

Would be hilarious if battlenet department didn’t get the memo about the Classic release and they decide to schedule a battlenet maintenance that week. Imagine the reaction, 2 hours after Classic have gone live, an announcement pop up, battlenet login servers will go down in 1 hour for an one hour maintenance.

Do you remember when routine maintenance was ALL DAY. God I hated when my days off work were on Tuesdays. For the full Classic experience, it would be funnier if they did that.

Release is exactly 2 weeks after character creation. When character creation went live in your region… add exactly 2 weeks. Its the same time.

There are very few real benefits to abolishing time zones. You would still need to have an understanding of different geographies’ daylight hours because we live and work according to daylight, we have for tens of thousands of years. You would still be shifting time around in your head.

Daylight savings time, on the other hand, can go.

The reason we see the 27th more often in marketing materials is to temper expectations. If a North American player finds out the game is launching one day earlier than they believed, they’ll be pleasantly surprised. If a European player finds out the game is launching one day later than they believed, they’ll throw a temper tantrum.

They’ve had a live countdown on their website for months. They are not trying to pull a fast one. You just don’t timezones.

 lmaoirony

You know what, yes you are correct go ahead and play the game “not” a day late and to be honest you could save time on queues then again maybe not.

Anybody know what time it is?

So sitting in the queue is considered playing now.

And we still would. It just changes the question of “What time is it over there?” to “When do you start work over there?”

Asking “What time is it over there?” is a silly question. It’s not ever a different time anywhere on the planet.

Now sure there would be an adjustment period, but the end result is a better understanding of time and a heck of a lot less confusion when traveling East or West.

Ty good post
