Launch Date Confusion

I keep seeing people mention the 27th as the launch date… it’s not.

Do not be fooled, blizzard is trying to pull a quick one on us. They state a worldwide launch on Aug 27th, but then you read the actual post and it says America’s Aug 26th at 3pm PDT.

If you planned things for the 26th, reschedule!

They meant it will actually be playable 27th.

Curious what Tuesday will be for maintenance… hmm.

I thought this was confusing as well. Kinda odd that a lot of places say the 27th.

Or you know… more of the GLOBAL population won’t be able to start until the 27th, since Europe, China, Taiwan and Oceania are all releasing on the 27th.

The date is lined up to Midnight on the 27th in Europe. For once, America isn’t controlling the narrative, and everyone’s losing their mind.

In what universe is this “trying to pull a quick one.”? I think everyone understands it’s a global launch on the 26th/27th.

Referring to the 27th is probably the safer route given how people act on these forums (OP is Exhibit A). If they refer to the 26th you know there are going to be players in Europe screaming on the day before launch “YOU PROMISED WE COULD PLAY NOW!!!”

No it isn’t, 3:00pm PDT is only 10:00pm UTC. It’s Midnight in CEST (Paris) which is UTC +2.

But doesn’t EU have their own forums? Why would we say 27th on the NA forums?

Because the global announcement is the same on every forum.

That means we can’t say the 26th on the NA forums? Like why wouldn’t we just say the 26th here? That is when it releases for us. Why do we care what the global release says?

Where in the forums do they say the 27th? They always use the timezone sensitive links like

The only place they say “27th” is on the page where they list all timezones at once.

Maintenance would be over by launch time.
