im having high ping on high pop and medium pop realms only stable ping on low pop servers from yesterday . internet is stable checked everything from my isp’s side , and found out its only with wow other online games ping is stable and fine.
With this regards, could indicate an issue anywhere between you and the Blizzard realms considering it’ll be different routing for different games.
Do you remember which realms in question you had ping issues to?
Also, approximately where in the world are you located in relation to those servers (doesn’t have to be any more specific than east coast US, or Australia).
The location part is just me trying to sus out whether it’s the expected high ping to a server that’s far away, since your location relative to the server is a factor in your ping.
Someone in NYC would expect to have pretty high ping to Frostmourne (hosted in Sydney, Australia), just like someone in Melbourne would expect to have high ping to Area 52 (hosted in Chicago).
im playing from india , it was fine till friday . then i started having issues . ping is high only only on area 52 and burning blade my alts on wrymwest accord are low on ping and stable
That makes sense, since Burning Blade and Area 52 are in Chicago, whereas Wyrmrest Accord is in LA, which means higher ping on those 2 servers is expected.
just checked on ptr ping is fine and on retail as my char’s are on area 52 and burning blade ping is not stable , alts which are on low pop realms their ping is fine and stable
PTR is also hosted in LA.
So you have a good connection to LA, but not Chicago.
But, since LA is closer to India than Chicago is, having higher ping to Chicago than LA is expected.
ping is 10 k in chicago , and 285 on LA
Not seeing any other posts about high latency currently, so it is very likely the issue is at any of the hops between you and Blizzard and not actually a fault at Blizzards end. If so, not much Blizzard can do. Your ISP could possible run further checks and notify those responsible for the problematic server with the route to look into.
Could be cable damage, a VPN might help but it depends. I did see another report of a Red Sea cable being cut, affecting traffic in the region you live in, not sure then why West Coast is better then Central.
Cable was cut in the Red Sea. NetBlocks, which monitors internet access, said “a series of subsea cable outages in the Red Sea has degraded internet connectivity in multiple countries,” which it said included India and Pakistan. It blamed “failures affecting the SMW4 and IMEWE cable systems near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.”
Internet issues can be such a pain, I’m sorry.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot we can do for that.
Your path to a server can vary quite a bit depending on your location - and your provider.
Issues in between can also come into play.
Kozzae mentioned trying a VPN. That might help, depending on that routing, but I would caution if you use a VPN, try to always use the same one. VPNs aren’t normally an issue, but if you switch up constantly it can make it appear you are teleporting around the world.
Whether a VPN will help, that’s a trial and error thing I’m afraid. If it uses a different path than the one with issues, it very well may. On the other hand, if it uses the same path - you are likely to run into the same experience.
sad cant do much about it then ![]()
