Last week of Rank? Pre-Patch?

Anyone remember or know how this works?

I started to pvp once I hit 51 on my alt, then a lot at 60, as PvP was why I rerolled.

One the week of the prepatch, I know the rank system is deleted.

That said, do you get your last weeks calculated RP?

Decent question but no idea and its such a niche question I doubt anyone remembers for sure. It would only really matter for title’s since the gear moves to currency with the patch anyway, but I’d guess that if you like needed that last weeks RP to move you to General, that you should have the General title available after the patch

Yeah, I remember CLOSE to the last week in Vanilla, as one of my friends was in need of those last weeks (or week) and he had to beat out a bracket breaker so the cap was over 1 million…

But I dont know if that was second last week, or last week.

I’m curious as to how this works as well

This is a very good question and I know MULTIPLE people wanting an answer. Say what you want about phase 6 rankers. I got back into it for something to do (and I’ve enjoyed it) and I have questions myself. I know two people who technically should hit rank 14 on May 18th (and I know there is no date confirmation) and they want to know even more if they should bother with 3 weeks of top standing honor grinding or not.

It should be the week before May 18th, which is theorized to be the Tuesday the Pre-patch drops.

‘Pre-patch’ should be considered equivalent to Patch 2.0, which is when all the TBC changes went into effect.

Guildie linked us this: https://jakeswork.github.io/ranker/

Use that to figure out what bracket you need to get to the rank you want. Keep the ‘Weekly Breakdown’ limited to no more than the week of May 12 - May 19. That should still factor in the days leading up to ‘patch day’, but obviously exclude the day after (19th).

Now use HonorSpy and try and build up your server’s ‘pool’ to figure out what bracket you can realistically get into without killing yourself on Mt. Dew and caffeine pills.

AND ABOVE ALL, REMEMBER TO PURCHASE THE ITEMS YOUR RANK GRANTS YOU!

Doesn’t matter if you don’t need those crappy rare bracers. Buy them. When TBC hit, many folks had issues getting their ‘highest rank’ titles. Some had lower ranks but got their highest rank because they had the items with that requirement. Others got it because it “said so” on their honor pane, but didn’t have the items requiring that rank. While others missed out. It was really hit or miss, but I don’t recall hearing anyone with items from their highest rank not getting that rank title.

RIP those GMs, who stopped rank and had deleted their weapons because they got Naxx weapon upgrades, and were in the group that only got the title of the rank their character was on the day of Patch 2.0.

I agree with your assessment that the last week is probably a wash. This is what a lot of people who I know are concerned about right now.

Your post is speaking as if May 18th is an actual set date.

This is the big thing; THERE IS NO DATE ANNOUNCEMENT saying May 18th. This was gathered from a file and very well may have been a placeholder.

The transfers being closed does add up to this date as likely but nothing has been confirmed or even really alluded to outside of that leak.

What the people who are set to hit the highest rank of 14 after grinding hard for 3 weeks want to know is this: Should I bother wasting my time? As of today, these people are wasting their time if May 18th is correct and the final week is a wash anyway because May 18th is only 2.5 weeks away… but this has not been confirmed anywhere.

Also at least the people I know are aware that they may not get the title (which is what their primary goal is not gear) and have come to terms with that part but they are grinding out AV weekend today while being told nothing.

So this question is good and really deserves a real answer. Right now if you talk to Blizzard customer support you won’t get an answer, they will tell you they don’t know (a friend tried this and got nowhere) and forum posts haven’t gotten any answer either.

Yeah, I’m not in the range of hitting 14, but I’m not exactly excited about AV this weekend regardless.

I may hit 10 though, depending on the answer to the question.

Correct, the only thing ‘going for it’ is it does fall on a Tuesday.

I would have to defer to those in TBC Beta, as to how far along beta is. Because I really don’t see Pre-patch lasting more than maybe 2 weeks before TBC actually drops; about enough time to gear up Shaman and Paladins with ‘dungeon blues’ to head out into Outlands and not get smooshed by the first Felboar they encounter.

It’s probably come down to not wanting to push people into unsubbing because “well, new stuff isn’t coming out for at least 1 sub period; so I’ll cancel and wait.” Especially if there are those that don’t really care to hurry up and roll the new races (like: “I’ll roll a shaman once my main is 70 and geared”).

If TBC isn’t due for another month or two, those players will likely just unsub and wait. That’s money lost in the eyes of Activision.

I have Beta access and it is loaded with bugs.

Again I don’t doubt May 18th but it hasn’t been announced and that’s almost here.

The only other request I and others have is: 1 Announce it and 2 Explain what’s going on with the honor system exactly. As it stands any questions about this are silent because they don’t want to say any dates.

Whiny, immature, fly-by-night customers who unsub at the drop of the hat aren’t good long-term loyal customers and shouldn’t be catered to when a game doesn’t even work right yet. These same people will unsub in 3 months and be gone until WotLK anyway (low value). People who are honor grinding are often the ones who sub for years on end (high value). Not that I expect this company to understand that because I don’t.

Would love an answer to this if any GMs can respond. I also don’t want to grind out these last 2 weeks if the honor calculated going into May 18th won’t count.

Hope you guys get a response. Good luck

I’m not imply them being whiny. It’s just why would you pay a sub to not login because there’s no new content and you have nothing that you want to do.

In fact, they probably have a chart that shows which week most people have set to renew subs; they’ll announce updates the following week. So…most of us probably started ‘day 1’ of Classic, so our subs should all renew around the end of each month.

That being in mind. I would predict this coming week (May 4th; probably with some “May the fourth be with you” gag), as the day they announce when Pre-patch drops.

Now saying beta is loaded with bugs. Well, it really depends on how severe those bugs are. The Ony “reveal” Event has been bugging out recently on Pagle. It’s clearly a bug, but it’s not a very ‘game breaking bug’.

So, how much of TBC is functionally like TBC to be played. Like, does Kara mobs insta-gib tanks with Retail-damage values. Or does the Fel Reaver occasionally fly off into the stratosphere. Both are bugs, but only one is ‘game breaking’.

Essentially, is TBC Classic a ‘minimum viable product’ right now. If it is, expect it’s release in June.

Though, May 18th could be the date in which the Collector’s Edition goes on sale.

Though (lolrepetitioninwords), the string variable is “BURNING_CRUSADE_TRANSITION_DEFAULT_CLONE_DATE” suggests this is just establishing a default date. Much like how computers default to 1970 until the user changes it.

Perhaps “date of creation” is a required field when characters are made. Since, for what ever reason, Guilds are being lost in the Vanilla-era servers. Maybe the character creation dates are also being lost. And this value prevents those staying in Vanilla-era from having their characters broken.

It could also be a field that’s required for this string: “BURNING_CRUSADE_TRANSITION_ACTIVATECHARACTER_CONFIRM” which says: “You are activating a version of %1$s that was saved on %2$s.” That “%2Ss” would require a date. And just to avoid problems, a default value is set (much like that 1970).

EDIT:

Either way, I would keep playing. From my understanding the BG Tokens can be stockpiled (20 in bag, rest in mail) and when the change happens with Honor becoming a currency and being reset. We should be able to dump all those tokens into Honor-money and buy all the gear we want to get a head start in Outlands.

I could see it lasting up to 6 weeks.
So much to do in the prepatch.

I was calling “want it now” people whiny. I am calling people who want buggy games released so they can play them whiny, immature, and unloyal. Now that may have been a little harsh on my point but I do feel that way.

The thing is this my opinion on that actually still has nothing to do with the issue which is current rankers are just looking for some communication from Blizzard. That’s it. That’s the issue.

I don’t think you’re understanding the issue. For example who cares about 20 marks when the people we are talking about are turning in anywhere from 20-100 marks a day.

Anyway, that’s my last time really talking to you because these side issues are irrelevant. Again people are just requesting communication from Blizzard about dates and the honor system so they know if they should be grinding dozens of hours a week or not.

ETA Last comment though if they announce it this week then ok. Earlier would have been better but that’s passed already so it’s ok. As long as the needed information regarding how the honor system is going to work is provided by Blizzard. That is the request.

6 weeks is forever. No way it’s lasting more than 3 weeks. Not with these Sweat Lords. xD

Pre patch will be minimum 6 weeks

In duration? Why?

It was a month originally no?

You cray if you really think that. : D
People gonna lvl up alts, then they have to gear them up.
People gonna be farming marks from bgs for hwl gear.
If they already have hwl gear they will probably farm 100 of each mark so they can buy lvl 70 pvp gear as soon as its available.
People will want to raid with new talents.
The lvl 60 arena skirmishes will be weeks of content just by itself.
Leveling up JC on mains or new alts.
Lots to do.

I think the TBC prepatch will be around 6 weeks.

This is off topic but I’ll say it to bump the thread.

With that being said I won’t be touching BGs pre-patch unless it’s lowbie BGs with an alt. That’s because I think the lowbie BGs will be ok… the 60 BGs. Let’s see. Being grouped with a bunch of PVE centric undergeared alts who only want marks for gear and have god-awful attitudes and are terrible at PVP. This is what I see from most of the mark grinders now and it will get worse. So for me, that’s a huge pass. it would be fine to blow them up on the other side since most of the time they suck but they have to be on my team too so no. So BGs are on pause until this mess clears up and more actual PVPers come back.
