What eventually worked for me, I slowed down the dps, and while flying through portals, zoomed the camera in and looked straight up. Hope that helps.
10/6/2021 the bug is still active but if you have your Artifact weapon equipped then it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve run it multiple times solo and it works every time if I have my artifact.
