Last allied race slot

Not really? Nightborne are too much of a AR based off of nelves to really twist.

Interesting is subjective. I’d find Wildhammer Dwarves to be an interesting addition, for example, but I’m going to be patient until the next round of ARs is getting added. I don’t expect to see them before helves.

Some people found mechagnomes to be interesting, as an example. We need to be a bit more specific in what we want, I think.

This is going to sound selfish so bare with me here, since I’m not the type of person to get annoyed at any faction getting any sort of allied race or whatever.

But even though I doubt it would happen, I seriously hope that the horde doesn’t get any sort of Worgen race using the same skeleton. I only say this because the Worgen are pretty much the most unique race the alliance has, so if the horde really got them it might be the day I finally agree with people that say bias.

That’s all just a what if scenario though of course, since again I doubt it would happen.

Not gonna lie… i don’t care if High elves get added or not… but i think we can do better for the “undead AR slot” than re-use a model not once but for the millionth time and also the same time Alliance get an AR that re-uses the same model.

I think its obvious they mean something to diversify the pool of options.
Like how Vulpera are a counter part to Goblins as they come from the skeletons but otherwise don’t resemble them.

To get a 5th elf option does not diversify the race options much

Sure but let me explain what I mean, WildHammer are pretty interesting but not after we just got another Dwarf race, so despite them being interesting in general I would not be interested in them at the moment

MechaGnomes have no lore and they could have being way better if blizzard allow mogs on their legs/arms like the middle and right img here https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/836336.jpg
I also think that their torso and head shoul’ve a full mecha option, and alas MechaGnomes offsprings are probably normal Gnomes so there is really no reason for them to be a AR

My final take on interesting I was thinking about something like the Vulpera that despite re-using and old skeleton its actually the only new race

so while interesting is 100% personal taste I hope you get what I meant

Aside from the velves, when has the thalassian model been re-used?

I think it’s safe to say one of the two “final” AR slots will be an Undead Race of some kind considering all the hints pointing to the next expansion being Death related. Whether it’s San’layn, Lightforged Undead, or Undead Night Elves is anyone’s guess.

I would like to see Kaldorei Worgen though… I mean now is the perfect time to implement them with Tyrande and Genn hot to take down Sylvanas. They may want to seek out a mutual ally in the Kaldorei Worgen to recruit them to the cause. Then we have Vassandra the druid who helped Gilnean Worgen during the ritual in Gilneas now in Duskwood helping those Worgen regain their humanity, as seen in the Worgen Heritage Quest, so maybe they are setting her up so that she can help the remaining Kaldorei Worgen released from the Emerald Dream?

I understand the premise, but if you want to provide useful feedback Blizzard can act upon, you need to be more specific. You need to come out and say something like:

“I really like the concept of the Vulpera; a race using the assets of an existing skeleton rig, but something unique and unrelated to that race which originally used the model. I’d like to see more races like the Vulpera, such as the Saberon, who aren’t related to Worgen at all, or the Jinyu or Ankoan, who use the nelf rig, but aren’t related to nelves at all.”

And if you don’t want Saberon/Jinyu/Ankoan, then specify what you do want. Don’t be afraid to be creative yourself.

“I’d like a race using the (insert playable race here) rig, but which are (insert animal/monster/concept here).”

Ex: “I’d love to see Ethereals added as an AR using the Nightborne rig, but their face options should be masks with different kinds of expressions on them, which can change expression based on emotes or actions. Instead of hair, give them bandages that function like hair, or crowns/hoods like locus-walker has.”

It will be interesting to see what comes in 8.3.5 considering we are getting the return of the mantids under a new Empress. Depending on how the story unfolds with them we could see Pandaria races added to our factions.

Saurok, Mantid, Mogu.

We’ve seen the Saurok all over both isles now as pirates. Mogu returning under the stewardship of Ra’den. Then the mantid who were once allied to the horde under Garrosh in Siege of Orgrimmar.

I could still see the Sethrak joining a side as well or even the Jinyu since the alliance have had good relations with their cousins the Ankoan.

I would love playable Mogu

Lightforged Forsaken would be the best lead in for future story exploring the shadowlands, the relationship between void and undeath, and the future of Lordaeron.

I’m not much familiar with Night Elf Worgen, but I think they would be a prime opportunity for revealing more about the future of the Night Elves, the nature of Elune, and the relationships between Alliance leaders. Personally, I’m hoping for a coup detat storyline that finally makes Alliance politics gasp interesting.

Unpopular Opinion here, but I think playable Jinyu/Ankoan, Mogu, or Sethrak would suck. I’ll be happy for those that want them obviously, but I just don’t find them appealing personally.

Jinyu/Ankoan: Are just ugly fish people who stick out like a sore thumb.
Sethrak: Really have no place in either faction and again stick out like a sore thumb.
Mogu: If I am remembering right just look like Draenei that were turned into statues.

I don’t know, again that’s just my opinion and I’d be happy for those that want them but to me they would be meh.

Basically there were night elf druids who had a forbidden wolf form which some used at a time of war. It changed them and they were cursed with the worgen curse.
This is the curse that made the worgen.

These night elves were trapped in the emerald dream.

I believe the Mantid are supposed to be allying with N’Zoth in 8.3.

Personally, I think Lightforged Undead are a terrible concept and would rather it and Calia be forgotten in a corner somewhere. I have similar feelings about that Lightforged demon we saw in Legion. To each their own though.

Saberon would be a nice Worgen counterpart. Some of them made it to Azeroth with Draenor’s Mag’har Orcs.

How about Lightforged Nathrezim for the Horde:

And Ethereals for Alliance:

Didn’t they use the Nelf model twice for Nightborne and Zandalari? And KT seems to not based off of any existing player models.

Fortunately Allied Races are not based on just reworking skeletons Kul Tirans, and not necessarily based on previous races see Vulpera. I do think we might see the addition of one final set of allied races before 9.0.

So lets look at things.

Skeletons not used:

Humans, Worgen, Forsaken, and Panderan.

Since they do not need to make the skin the same as the original race ie Vulpera, and because technically we have 4 Human Races already (Stomwind, Forsaken, Worgen, Kul Tirans.)

They do not need to make “Light Forged Undead”, however I would not be shocked if they happen at some point, since the writing is on the walls.

San’layn although undead, use the High Elf skeleton, as they are Blood Elves made into Vampires. Not highly likely but a fan favorite.

Once again, people have asked for this, also not likely.

The most Likely Races for the last 2 Allied Races, and I have to make it a list because anything could happen.

Top contenders:
Unshackled Gilgoblins
Waveblade Ankoan

Possible:
Based on the idea of using skeletons
Furblogs, Quilboar - Panderan Skeletons
Saberons - Worgen Skeletons
??? - Human Skeletons
??? - Forsaken Skeletons

Not Likely:
Ogres, Naga, sethrak
