Landscape Difficulty mode in WoW

Does increasing the scaling increase your rewards at all? If not, you could achieve the same effect by just using worse gear.

Plus just increasing damage or health of the mob doesn’t necessarily mean it’s more challenging. Increasing the life of an open world mob by 10 times doesn’t make it more challenging, it just takes longer to kill with the same basic rotation.

It would need to add mechanics or affixes (kind of like how diablo has elite mobs with random affixes that you have to deal with) in order to make you do something you wouldn’t have to do normally like stun, interrupt, dodge, etc.

I assume the rewards don’t change in this harder mode?

I agree with others about legacy content and difficulty, and how much it would be nice to “unscale” zones and such.

The same thing can be done in lvl 10 quest green gear. Not sure we need a Mythic mode for the open world when they can’t even balance challenges confined to instances. Just my opinion.

Such a mode already exists. It’s called You Don’t Need Pants For The Victory Dance.

Remove enough gear, and the world will be every bit as dangerous as you want it to be.

This. An option to make the open world legitimately challenging would be a godsend, but I don’t want them to emulate Classic.

There are probably enough mechanics in the game that they could be applied to old world enemies, but that’s asking a lot. I’d be happy if it made things like inscription, alchemy, and engineering necessary resources to survive, and if I have to press more than 2 buttons to farm to cap.

It’s not a perfect solution, because then you lose the RPG appeal of upgrading gear and getting stronger over time. Still, it’s a nice alternative in the meantime, especially now that we can buy really cheap common gear for transmog if we don’t want to run around naked.

Would love it. Leveling can be a legitimate content if given some love by the devs, and if it’s optional for people who want to do end game.

Right. Like in delves some packs may be empowered by zekvir and have extra abilities. In diablo, elite enemies have random affixes for you to deal with. If random packs/mobs had extra things like that, it might give some fun challenges.

Just something other than adjusting numbers.

Masochists or those who really wanna put in the time and effort do that, sure. But let’s be real here, we’re playing a video game not a spreadsheet simulator with a huge notepad of pre-defined rules and exceptions lol. You’re not wrong in saying that you can make things more difficult if you so wish to (And by all means is actually possible / manageable at max level I suppose). But for the rest of the experience? What if you wanna keep progressing your gear and retain difficulty? Guess you gotta keep that silly bad gear on hand - a hassle that wouldn’t or shouldn’t exist either.

I guess this is a matter of ‘how nuanced’ and ‘how much dev time’ would this landscape difficulty be. LOTRO has a simple stand out of the fire mechanic + % NPC Damage / % NPC health.

The boost exist for players like you. Blizzard has said this like a hundred times in interviews. This is such a lame reason to keep leveling in the crappy state it is in right now.

I don’t think players like you realize how much of a detriment the current state of leveling is to the game.

People are resorting to playing a 20 year old version of the game to find what they’re looking for.

This would be an AWESOME option! I want to finish off doing lore master m, but it feels awful doing it as a max level and one shotting everything the whole time.

I ain’t paying SIXTY dollars, the literal price of a brand new game for ONE single class at max level. If it was FREE then sure but no, leveling should be even faster until the boost is free.

Then let us have free max level characters then leveling can be changed to however you want.

Then that game exists for them. Stop trying to regress wow. Progression > regression.

Gold is so easy to make in the game. You can buy a boost easy with gold.

This is another lame excuse. The game is 20 years old, if you have been playing for a time, you should have every class at this point at cap or near cap.

There is no reason leveling has to be lame anymore. I just think players like you just can’t stand change.

You get a free boost with every expansion.

I don’t farm gold. It’s not fun for me at all.

You ever heard of having more than one of a class that’s a different race? Variety, the spice of life…ya know.

Leveling itself is lame. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if it was done away with completely.

If it’s changed to be more of a slog then it should also be changed to give me a “free max level button”.

You don’t think I’ve already used them?

I just want to add that landscape difficulty mode not only gives the mobs hp/armor and damage but also new mechanics and new behaviors. It’s not like hardcore where it’s the same stuff but u can’t die, it’s more like m+ but open world and no timer, it’s pretty fun ( loremaster represent!)
