Lag/Jittering with every quest hand-in/Level up

Replying to say I have the same issue.

Yeah, this is happening to me too.

It’s never been fatal, per se. It just adds a lot of unnecessary strain. It’s aging your drive a lot faster than it should. It’s not going to suddenly kill your PC, but it is going to make the drive fail sooner than it otherwise would.

I would strongly suggest making the file read only. It doesn’t break anything and the launcher reverses it anyway so you don’t have to worry about it screwing up a patch.

Same issue here, I’m hoping we will be compensated for this

Same here  and yeah event though you can still play, it is really annoying to have that issue,I hop it gets solved soon

Still encountering this issue, in both BFA content and BC content

I have an SSD with around 800g free space with just WoW on it. And it is still doing the jittering/stuttering/fps issues.

I did turn the Hotfix and Tooltip files to read only and while that did reduce it somewhat, it did not get rid of it. At times, the game is unplayable for several minutes as it’s trying to load things like NPC’s, and terrain - even with the temporary Read Only fix. This has been happening since the patch.

A quick look last night when it started jittering and freezing/lagging - with the Read Only temporary fix in place - my CPU usage spiked at around 80% and only WoW was open (along with the Battle Net launcher) and discord. When the jittering eased, it came back down to 20% or so. Soon as it starts to jitter though, the CPU usage spikes.

I also notice that when it gets bad the core temp of my computer goes up.

I am fairly confident this will not break my computer (at least I hope), but this cannot be good for it. The jittering and stuttering it is doing is bad enough that it’s giving me motion sickness (for the first time in my life). It isn’t fun. It’s doing it across all characters. For example, flying (taxi mount or otherwise) is painful as my character just keeps doing these little pauses and the whole screen jitters and every few seconds and that’s just one example.

And frankly, it is unbelievable to me that this is still happening and no proper fix has been released yet. It’s great that you guys are finally communicating, but please, fix this soon.

You mentioned that your WoW was open along with your Battle Net Launcher. This is the problem. Actually, you have to first close your Battle Net Launcher before opening your WoW.exe client directly from your World of Warcraft\retail folder.

I suspect the reason why the Hotfix and Tooltip read-only temporary fix did not work for you is because you were keeping your Battle Net Launcher in your background as you were opening your WoW.exe client. Your Battle Net Launcher, if it is open in the background, will automatically reset the 2 files back to its original state before launching the game.

This is a separate issue. The issue this thread is regarding is just a couple seconds and only happens when certain things trigger it like quest completion.

same issue here. BFA content

Same issue – 1-2 seconds spike/freeze everytime a quest is turned in; not to mention the extreme constant disconnections today – while my internet works perfectly for literally everything else under the sun (PS4 is currently downloading an update at 4 MB/s or so as I type this; just monitoring if the internet itself was the issue; seems only WoW is the problem)

Yep, having the same issue. I removed all add ons, reset UI, uninstalled the entire game. Then reinstalled it, and its still doing it. Guess well have to wait for maintenance to see if they fix it or not. Its very very annoying.

Replying to say, I have the same issue : Network spiking constantly 5-8 secondes freezing my game for about 1-3 secondes.
-Restarted my modem
-Restarted my pc
-Asked isp on their end. ( answer : nop )
-Disabling all my addons ( DBM - Elvui - TMW ) Still happening
-Delete cache - Neither is this.
-Lowered graphics to minimum. - no
-Happenning only on World of warcraft BFA ( classic doesn’t stutter for some reason ) *** Not sure why my GPU is 100% on usage while i play Classic in the Barrens? like instantly with a Nvidia gtx 1060 msi 6gb***

And after all that i still have the consistent freeze each 5-8 secondes… that really make my experience unenjoyable at this point

Thank you for taking your time to read this. Hope you’ll find the bug !

now that i’ve scan/repair my client it seems it is my hard drive spiking. Like everyone i guess

I would have edit my post but im new so I don’t know how yet.

I open b net, then make those files read only, then launch the game.

I will try to shut b net down completely next time, after doing the read only route and see if that helps.

Yes…

The jittering ones last a few seconds and sometimes it jitters into the complete freeze lasting for several minutes (usually by this point, my computer’s temp has climbed up and the CPU usage from task manager has gone up through the roof)…

I just want to play my game without wanting to throw up from motion sickness from the jittering.

Still no fix for this yet? Im having the same problem. My screen flickers when the map is loading and it freezes for a moment whenever I hand in a quest.

Let’s hope today’s maintenance fix this. I’ll be flabbergasted if after a week there’s still no fix from Blizzard’s engineers…

I just resubbed yesterday and redownloaded the game (0 addons) and was experiencing this. (Mechagon and the naga land area ) while I was opening up the questlines.

was still experiencing it hours later - will notify if still having the issues today.

I appreciate all the work you guys are doing, sounds like this is a complicated bug! Let us know how it goes!

For those who insists playing even with the jittering/lag please consider that your precious piece of hardware can be damaged over the spikes and intense stress that the bug seems to cause to the system. I have halted myself of playing WoW until they fix it completely.
