NO…It’s a GAME…online…it’s NOT real life. Should not be taken soooo seriously…
The problem is not in the game…and changing/removing things in the game will not at any time change REAL LIFE human being behavior.
While I do appreciate the outcry/support given by many…It does not make me - a real life survivor - feel ANY better knowing they are changing/removing things…that people have now quit playing a game they loved so much…not even a tiny bit does it make me feel better, in fact the latter one makes me really sad.
lol…quite frankly - succubus reminds me of a dominatrix…someone who’s in control…removing it is just a stupid idea, sorry.
I think the #metoo movement has become way too convoluted.
It’s a serious, real life issue, but its now becoming such a mixed up mess…they have kind of lost the most important parts of it all.
I’ve a friend who’s played male characters for most of her gaming career. It’s only been since Legion that she started playing female characters in WoW.
Women playing male characters is more common that people realize.
The only inappropriate thing is all the murder and killing. Sword fights, using guns and bows and magic to damage each other. Killingworth animals, etc. All that stuff is very much not appropriate, but since that is what the game is about, I don’t care at all about a bit of skin or /spit.
The main tank of my vanilla guild was a woman passing as a man because she “didn’t think the guild would follow” if they knew who she really was - so she told us what she thought everyone wanted to hear.
She got herself into quite a pickle because she’d exaggerated her “maleness” to the point she would say inappropriate things to some of us in guild chat. When the officers voted that voice coms be mandatory for Naxxramas she finally had to “out” herself or be replaced as MT and assistant raid lead.
She was legit terrified to admit she’d wasn’t a man and made excuses not to be in voice for weeks.
I felt sorry for her but did give her a bit of a hard time - not about her dishonesty (rooted in anxiety) - but for playacting toxic masculinity to the point a lot of us really disliked her.
It’s bad enough when you have to deal with genuinely toxic people without the multiplier of otherwise normal people RPing borderline psychopathy to “get ahead”.
/roll eyes
And. IMO, if you don’t think a lot of people believe that psychos get ahead in today’s culture - so cover up their good to act edgy or evil - you have another thing coming.
Maybe you all should worry about cleaning your house first of its toxicity before worrying about the in game toxicity. Maybe the house cleaning will get people in that care about the players as well as co workers and the toxicity will decrease.
I honesty think the dirty stuff in game (like Master Baiter (BfA?) for instance) is actually funny in a childish way. Not offended in the least. Chat on the other hand… people love to throw around the “r-word”, and that to me is offensive.
