Google doesn’t know what a Peleton is. tell me.
But no, the female kultiran is not the only one with a “normal” body. Funnily enough, all of the female bodies look more or less possible.
Then you got night elves that are this close from dragging their knuckles on the dirt while they walk, or the lack of neck and wrist of humans… heck, even orcs look like something more logical, albeit roided.
Ah, you typod.
I’m not saying nobody knows how to do sports. I’m saying proportion wise, it’s realistic. Belves are too barbie, draenei as well, ect ect. Human females are ok too.
Like, if you’re gonna play a fantasy game, why not be a perfectly pretty elf? I get that but a friend of mine finds that the most offensive thing in WoW right now; how sexualised most females are compared to their male counterparts.
I would argue this means the male models need updating. I am not saying you shouldnt have butt ugly options for those who want to play those, but options should be expanded not removed because someone has RL body issues.
I don’t like how often they’ve overused the “Woman has emotion, woman GO CRAAAAYZEEEEH and try to kill EVERYONE!” plot point. I wouldn’t say it has risen to the level of being offended about it, but it does make me roll my eyes and sigh.
Male characters so thick with muscle that they can barely move, flashing their bare chests at each other, is a male power fantasy. Women in skimpy plate or light clothing is male eye candy. But flip that around, and a woman playing an unrealistically attractive, scantily clad character is a female power fantasy. Being the prettiest, most special princess in all the land taps in to our lizard-brain the same way that being the toughest, most awesome dude who crushes his foes taps in to the male lizard-brain. There are outliers, sure, men who want to be the prettiest princess and women who want to crush their foes, but letting players dress their characters how they want is fine by me. It’s when female NPCs at war, in battle, that can’t have their own agency are dressed like lingerie models that it makes my eye twitch somewhat due to the impracticality of it.
I thought that making the primary enemies in Drustvar witchy women, exclusively, was an eyebrow-raising move. Again, “offended” is the wrong word. My reaction was more like, “…huh. Okay.”
I don’t care that Garrosh called Sylvanas a Bee. He’s a jerk. So is she. I would be significantly less amused if NPCs called female PCs the same thing, but that’s never happened, so /shrug.
In general, I don’t feel personally victimized by the game or I wouldn’t play it. I think it’s good that the developers try and keep that in mind when they design things, though, rather than just go “OH WELL VIDEO GAMES BUR BUR BOYS MAKE ALL UNDERWEAR SEE-THROUGH BY DEFAULT LOL”
No I am not offended by anything in the game. I love the game. I love the art style and I love my characters.
What seems to be taking place is white knighting men seem to think that somehow they know what’s best for us. Just like the tweet from the dev. How is it that he decides what I feel is toxic or not? Like we need men to tell us what we should believe about things in the game.
It’s like some twisted version of the father in Leave it to Beaver telling June that he makes all the decisions but 2021 style of doing things like this indirectly to lord over us.
Less muscle showing would be nice, just a texture option. no need to change the model. I mean sure, it’s world of WARcraft, soldiers are ripped. But mages? they can be grumpy old men/women.
Which is why it’s sad the skinny Kul’tiran never made it.
I sexualise the heck out of male blood elves.
The day more people understands sexualization happens in the eye of the beholder, things would be a lot easier.
Oh I completely agree and do so myself as well. (Male Draenei are hawt)
Nobody in this thread so far has brought it up except for my friend who no longer plays. (but thats mostly cause her PC got stolen) So it’s an uncommon opinion, I guess? I mean, I can see her point, but it doesn’t bother me. Hunched female orcs and trolls would even stuff out though.
I don’t know if uncommon but rather, I find it regressive and even a touch misguided.
Part of the whole feminism thing was to be able to show as much skin as we want (part, of course, there were other, more serious matters involved), so to be against that only because some men might get some ideas… seems like a waste of time.
To me it feels that something based on the idea that anything men might enjoy it’s inherently sexist it’s just grasping for straws to be offended at something.
They used to have bra burnings back in the 60s…and now everyone wants to cover up with a burka or nun habit.
It wasnt the skin that offended her, it was the unrealistic proportions.
As a woman, I like the succubus. She can stay.
Women are not a monolith, one person Cannot speak for all womankind
Assuming you’re a man. You don’t speak for any women.
Yikes. You’re assuming I am a man? You’re a bigot.
Exactly.
And all because men might like it.
What of the men that don’t care about chest fat?
What about the women who get saucy ideas?
The only “unrealistic” female model, that would be the Forsaken… because we’re dead. Everything else it’s something that you can see somewhere at some point.
I’m not saying it’s you the one thinking that way, but when I see people saying certain forms are unrealistic, it bothers me.
“Oh this character’s chest fat it’s too big.” I guess women with cups that go above B don’t exist.
“Oh where’s this character’s spine!?” I guess skinny women don’t exist.
I imagine you see where I’m going with this.
Kind of my point…“unrealistic” in whos eyes? Every time I see one of those commentaries about women in comics or women in anime I end up seeing a post from a woman who has a large chest saying its insane,
Why would you assume my gender
