Lack of tanks shows that per spec gearing has to stop

Personally dont get the whole “tanks arnt fun” thing…maybe thats just a mythic plus thing…i dont do m+.

As to not tanking, i just dont tank lfg pug runs cause a bunch of the people in them are self intitiled buttheads id rather not deal with. Nothin blizz can do about that, community needs to own up to that one.

That’s why people can’t focus on meters. A BDK healing is their “mitigation” since they are literally paper. Healers don’t know what they want. They will complain if a BDK is out healing them on the meters but they wan’t a tank that won’t fall over hence why you see a surge in prot warrior popularity in M+. If healing meters also accounted for damage mitigated through armor and block healers would be running to the forums complaining about prot warriors also.

I tried tanking on my Alliance paladin in season 2 but because I missed S1 I was still learning the dungeons. I was fine as a tank in terms of playing my class, I even got AOTC in Heroic BoD and was quite proud of myself–really felt like an accomplishment.

But M+? The timer makes people so toxic that on this paladin I haven’t bothered to even go into one yet(granted, I just leveled this guy a couple weeks ago) even as DPS. People were downright cruel and not necessarily just to me but to anyone who made even a slight mistake. If I played ret and topped DPS some bad would still be talking crap. if I healed the group and did my best(and I know how to heal) and we cleared the timer some bad would still be talking crap. Even if you don’t make mistakes people are still mean to each other.

And if I tanked and got confused about the route because I was still learning the dungeon and didn’t know all the skips? GOD FORBID, they’re gonna talk crap and break my key by leaving.

The timer needs to go, they need to come up with some other metric of success in M+. Maybe just completion…

These problems are virtually non existent with an organized group but that can be hard to find. A lot of folks in the LFG are the cruelest people I’ve ever come across anywhere in my gaming life or anywhere on the internet for that matter.

I’d tank on this guy but I just don’t want to deal with so many unnecessarily rude people. I’ve actually enjoyed BFA quite a bit especially considering all the haters this expac has(and it definitely has problems, not saying it doesn’t). This complaint right here is my biggest complaint of BFA.

If we stopped consistently getting nerfed Id probably play and queue more. But as of now, I just do m='s and other shannigans when my irl friends are on while I wait for shadowlands

I can tell you i don’t tank anymore because pugs ruined it, i know it’s my own fault so no need to repeat the diatribe.
I enjoy tanking, i enjoy tanking dungeons just for the sake of it because it’s fun. playing with random people isn’t fun so i quit.

I have been asked to tank a few times due to not being able to get a tank, this really is an issue

It’d be easier at this point to just allow dungeons to start with any 5 people and fill in the extra roll with a NPC or something untill a PC is found for that roll.
( i say that because no ammount of ‘‘insentive’’ will make me pug by the way)

We have the TECHNOLOGY!

Bring back hybrid specs and I guarantee more people will tank and heal.

Stay in classic

would you like me to switch to one of my 120’s to make you more comfortable?

That’s not what I was saying, I was saying stay in classic because classic has hybrid specs.

Yes it does, and only warriors can tank hur dur.

Nope. Anyone in classic can tank if their healers are comfortable with it. Just ask the druids and paladins that tank despite warriors being the best. Or the shaman and hunters who have abilities that pull extra aggro. I may not have raided in classic, but while leveling, I’ve tanked as a survival hunter with a Paladin healer friend giving me extra mana with wisdom.

Warriors are not the only tanks in classic.

You’re fun, i was hoping you would note i was making a joke with the Hur dur bit but seems you went the other way,i’m not interested in arguing have a good one.

I like that you have a consisting naming scheme for your characters.

This character yes Denalo is from a DND campaign i wrote, jesus over 20 years ago now.

People can talk about Essences and specs and gear till they’re blue in the face.

It’s not going to change the fundamental problem. And some people do actually recognize the fundamental problem. And the fundamental problem is the attitude of people in this game. It is absolutely torturous for a new tank to try and learn things if he doesn’t have a guild or friends in this game.

I would recommend a practice mode for all dungeons where a new tank could go in with some NPC teammates and learn the dungeon on his own time. That way when he goes into a dungeon with real players he’ll at least have an idea of what to do.

But none of this will matter once the new expansion drops. People will be soloing dungeons because it will be the easiest route and that will essentially be the end of group content. At least outside of the raiding space.
