I’m seeing this a lot by a lot of players. Looks like the “great vault” is the same lame as chests were is BFA.
It’s not lack of gear that’s got you down, it’s that other people have more of it than you. More gear just inflates the gap between you and them.
They should really go back to the MoP days of loot, but with no JP or ML; grinding to upgrade your gear was pretty much the only complaint about it.
Warforging was just the replacement for JP; they should get rid of all that stuff. The only thing that we need back is reforging.
If we have to choose one end of the spectrum, and let’s be honest that’s how it is, I would choose the bfa/legion system over SL.
cheers on my mission table followers who are currently out trying to snag me a sweet crossbow that would be a +16 ilvl upgrade
edit: they succeeded!
45 key completed
11 untimed - 11 rolls
34 timed - 68 rolls.
1 weekly vault - 1 roll
13 Normal Boss kills - 36 rolls (+14 from bugged loot week one, 50)
8 Heroic Kills - 24 rolls (+6 from bugged loot week one, 36)
For a total of 166 different rolls at gear higher then 184 (base mythic)
Of the 16 slots (1H - Shield) 4 slots are still 184
1 slot is the legendary
1 slot is a PvP trinket
1 slot is from the great vault
2 slots because the person who got it didn’t need it.
So out of the 16 slots, only 7 of them have been drops that were for me out of 166 rolls.
If I didn’t have the pvp trinket I’d be looking at a 184 PvP trinket
If I didn’t have the 210 legendary legs I’d be looking at a 187 set of legs.
If I didn’t have the 200 Neck from someone that needed it, I’d be looking a 184 PvP neck.
If I didn’t have the 220 ring from the vault. I’d be looking at a 200 ring with bad stats for a Hpal just because its better then a 184 ring with good stats.
I’d love to count the hours I’ve spent in keys that were completed / timed to still have 4 items I’ve had yet to upgrade at all. I’ve also counted 9! different occasions where someone got a drop that was a minor (1-5 ilvl difference between current equip and drop) that would of been a major (15 - 30 ilvl difference) but they couldn’t trade it (of the people who wanted to trade) because Personal Loot
So like, enlighten me. How long did it take in BC, Wrath, Cata to gear up a character? and did they also have 0 bad luck protection?
Yeah blizzard has a wicked sense of humor. Im cracking up laughing. This is what a world of no hand outs looks like lol.
Agreed, I log off wow for a while to do uni work, then I get hit with a sudden urge to do M+ to get gear. I log onto wow and then think that the chance of me getting the piece of gear I want is slim and then I just log off lmao.
I have no incentive to level any alts to 60 if the looting rules stay like this.
Beyond moronic for player retention.
Rather play something else more rewarding.
Quills loot problems have zero to do with personal loot. The loot nerfs making a timed key give 33% less and an untimed key 50% loot are the real issues here. If you just do a /roll system in dungeon then you are essentially still rolling the odds just like PL…
I would welcome the return of reforging.
Anyway, most of my gear is just traded to me so far. Getting the scraps, its fine but it feels really bad for me.
I have none what so ever to even buy SL till this debacle of a Xpac is fixed up. Happy to potter around and do old content without getting my rear end kicked.
Remember when you used to get 2 upgrades per week one from m+ box and one from pvp box.
And M+ wasn’t some target capped pain in the rear to run and actually fun? And it dropped decent gear so you could be Mythic ready and pvp ready just by spamming m+
But now? Might well afk till conquest cap reaches the point where you can gear a toon in pvp gear within a day and then just upgrade it all to 220 by getting 1800 in arena.
Gearing is so slow in shadowlands and it sucks. They made all the systems pretty easy to keep up with ( renown is the only thing that matters and the catchup is really good ) but took away all our gear.
I haven’t had any motivation to do keys and this is coming from some one who did 1500 +20 and highier keys in 8.3
Why do people want and expect to be fully geared up within the first week? I’d much rather have a grind towards the gear that I want than just be handed more loot than I have any use for and hope for big rng titanforges. I’m insanely happy with how gearing works so far in SL.
Easiest solution, bring back a currency system and allow players to actually set a goal, and then work towards that goal.
What do you want them to do?
Most dedicated players are gonna to be heroic geared by the end of next week. I was in a +9 yesterday and there was literally 30-40 people ilvl195-200 who was queueing up to join. Everyone will be 200-210 in week, and that will be like 1 month since release. We’re not getting another tier for like 5 months. So what is this scarcity stuff about exactly? What more do you want…
I’m actually just upgrading covenant armor…I’m at 3/7 or 171 I think.
I check AH for reasonable upgrades
Why? So only the Favorites of Guild leaders get loot? That would be 1000 times worse then the system we have now
Im motivated too. I got 1 loot from 14 raid bosses and F all from keys but i still prefer this and i can pvp for more choices. First week i had 9/9 slots in the vault. This week so far i have 6.
Remember when everyone had the same ilvl in BFA and it pretty much made gear not matter.
Gear matters again. It’s easy to tell who has put in the work by ilvl instead of raider io.
