⚓ Kul Tiran PC is inconsistent with Kul Tirans in lore

That’s fine, I’d mentioned the wiki said the same.
I was just saying visually, it felt like there were a lot of unafflicted as you see tons of npc that never change, but I guess they’re capable of doing so.
I’ve also seen a lot of people saying they’d like to play as unafflicted Gilnean humans, but sounds like lorewise it doesn’t make as much sense.

It’s important to argue objectively. Do what I did, make a list. Make it something people can see, not just feel.

If this becomes a thing then should we get fat and skinny versions of every race? Makes sense to me. /shrug

Sure, I wouldn’t mind.

But the fat/skinny options for other races aren’t in the game. Fat/skinny Kul Tirans do. So if the Kul Tirans don’t get body options, despite the fact they all exist in the game files right now, and are ready for use, then we’ll never get body options for any other race.

The Kultirans look like over-sized male pandaren.

Sure it is. Just because a NPC model is set to do some things, they still need every cast animation for every class combo, and also some customization (yes minor, but its work) and finally they have to work on clipping issues with gear, which happens all the time with character models.

There is a reason we see re-use of base models. So if you want thin Kul-Tirans, expect them to be nearly identical to thin humans. Again, look at Blood Elf vs Night Elf vs Void Elf.

I do find it so interesting how important this seems to some people. If I pick Tauren as my race, I get a big toon. If I pick Pandaren, I get a plumpy toon. If I pick dwarf, I can’t make them thin (or they’d look like gnomes, right). Could there be a thinner version of each? Sure. Is it a big deal? Nope and not worth the development time for sure.

If I want skinny I’ll just take a skeleton undead haha.

The issue is that you don’t ever see skinny Tauren, or skinny Dwarves, or skinny Pandas in-game.

But the vast majority of Kul Tirans we see are the same size as other humans - Jaina, Tandred, Katherine, Brother Pike, Lucille Waycrest, Flynn Fairwind, Lord Stormsong, Daelin, Zelling, etc, etc. From the top of my head, the only notable XL Kul Tiran NPCs are Cyrus, Rosalind, Ashvane and I guess the Inquisitor Captain in Drustvar if we’re reaching that far.

Look more like slightly chubbier Vrykul to me.

The only one of those that’d maybe be an issue is some additional customization. Everything else already exists. It’s nothing but a model swap.
Sure they might want to go in and add some more Kul’tiran style hair and beard options or such, but those aren’t represented in game so it’s not required.

Maybe if these weren’t already playable models, then sure, but armor rigging and animations already fully exist.

I know what you mean. What I was trying to say is that visually, I see a lot more Gilnean NPCs, especially the citizens and civilians and such, that I’ve never seen change forms. So I was estimating it more like half the population as being cursed. It’s entirely possible that those civilians and NPCs etc can change and just aren’t shown doing so, especially with what the wiki said.

So sounds like we just have to assume almost all Gilneans are cursed.

Although, even then…if a crack squad can be an Allied race you see everywhere, I have no issues allowing people to play a uncursed Gilnean human if they wish to.

The NPC model in question is the same model as the Stormwind Human.

That’s why people are saying there is no work needed.

The skinny Kul Tiran might need additional work, but frankly, if that was the one that ended up on the cutting room floor I’d be fine with it.

The point has always been about visual consistency. Blizzard said that Kul Tirans are predominantly of comparable size to the other kingdoms, not me.

Well, consistency always get demoted in importance over other things such as time to code or even “we need the new race to be very distinguishable from human”. Again, I think the overall topic is just not going to change these decisions and that the fixation on it is probably just some very deeply buried, subconscious fat-shaming thing :wink:

That’s because most of the time we’re fighting, and they are farmers and whatnot. PC Worgen wolf out because things are constantly trying to kill us as soon as we leave town.

I’m fat and want to play a normal sized Kul Tiran, because the fat models dont look good in cloth or have good casting animations and I wanted to play a Kul Tiran mage.

I mean I don’t think that changes the point at all :wink: I’m fat too, my attraction to or not-to characters who are or are-not “fat” is still a core subconscious reaction that we probably have little control over.

And these KT are maybe best called stocky, but they probably don’t even qualify as obese, or “morbidly obese” like most of America haha.

I’m also interested in the too low BMI as opposed to too high BMI character models.

BMI wouldn’t accurately capture kul’tiran’s because they have a ton of muscle. But as far as body fat percentage goes I’d say you’d qualify them as overweight or obese. Not morbidly obese.

This would be a brand new precedent. So if I’m fixating on it, it’s because I don’t want the Kul Tirans to be something people point back at to explain why Blizzard won’t do something.

This is the first time the player character could only look like the minority of what was actually being presented, as consciously decided by Blizzard. The Orc PC has most appearance qualities in common with NPCs of their same race. The Darkspear Trolls do to. Apply this to every playable race and you’ll see visual consistency between player characters and NPCs of the same group. The Kul Tirans are the first that will break this trend.

It’s also the first race to be demonstrated with multiple body types, which is a request players have had for player models for a long time. If they don’t do it for the Kul Tirans, we could all forget about getting more body customization for anyone else.

Call it fat-shaming all you want, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

All of this makes me wonder what the reaction would have been if orcs were made playable, but only as the dire orc model.
