This idea that you can’t get KSM unless you have KSM is a big fat meme. Many of us timed 16s last week and will be picking up KSM in the next few days when we can play keys. I have a ton of gear I still need to upgrade.
All this said, being able to upgrade gear on alts was cute, but I don’t think Blizzard wants to short-circuit the entire gearing process of alts with KSM. Valor is way easier to get now, and 3 months from now when the cap on Valor is very high, I doubt they want you to jump straight up to 240 ilvl in a single marathon play session.
I think they changed it to be more like PvP ranking/upgrades, which are per character.
Not saying I agree with it, but that’s probably the mentality. It seems like another change to try to drive playtime higher (just like making everyone complete level 15s on both tyrannical and fortified weeks).
If this is true it’s another pretty shameless method to drag out 9.1. How many people have the time to run so many +15s on each toon just to get access to a catch up mechanic that they probably won’t even need at that point.
Except it is no longer based off the achievement. The degree you can upgrade to is now based upon that characters Blizzard mythic+ score. The upside, it is no longer just 3 tiers instead there are like 6.
Someone already posted the information from the wowhead right up on the mythic+ changes in 9.1. Or just go to google and search “wow 9.1 mythic+ upgrade requirements” It was changed during the beta for 9.1 so they could add in 6 different levels of possible upgrades over the 3 we had in 9.05.
And what, you thought wowhead (remember the site they almost always send you to if you have a question) and icy-veins just made it up? Or the fact that it was that way during the beta was just Blizzard playing a trick on us? Look we can all agree that Blizzard does a piss poor job producing their own patch notes and I am betting behind the scenes they work with wowhead to create their very detailed patch note guides.
Either way, it is pointless to argue this with you. You could be standing in the rain and argue that it’s not raining because you haven’t seen a weather report for rain.
