So I just got KSM on my main, but I’m not able to upgrade M+ gear on my alt, I thought this stuff was supposed to be account wide?
That’s lame if it’s true/isn’t just a bug
Even less reason to get it now since it’s unlikely your main would need very many valor upgrades anyway…
KSM being a nice little “catchup” system for alts was a nice perk, rip
It was in 9.0.5, in 9.1 it’s based on the mythic score of that character itself.
I think the main reason people will be upset (once the general public catches wind of this) is just the sheer impracticality of running 8 Fortified keys and 8 Tyrannical keys, at +15 or higher, on each individual alt
We’re not all full-time M+ streamers like Dratnos, we don’t all have 14-15 hours of playtime to sink into M+ keys every day. A full-time streamer can probably manage KSM on multiple characters, but not the average player.
Hopefully there is a blue post soon providing clarification on this, KSM being account-wide has been a nice perk since 8.3, it would be a shame if they made it character-specific.
Grats on the ksm If it’s not yet i’m sure they’ll fix it soon.
The way it worked in S1 was you got the KSM achieve on an alt after finishing a 15. Not sure how it works in S2 though.
Lol.
Really?
This was like only thing that made alts somewhat bearable.
I don’t think they understand people like playing different classes.
Especially the game director who only plays shaman and doesn’t like alts.
Yes, it’s an interesting change. Hopefully it was an oversite and they change it back.
Maybe they felt it was unimportant since we can get higher ilvl gear from Korthia than most of us had at the start of 9.1? But then again…Korthia gear upgrades are also locked behind rep that isn’t account wide.
I really want to hear from a blue on this. If it’s true my play time is about to plummet. I would normally run low and mid mythics on alts for valor, but I’d this is intended I’ll get ksm on my main then raid log.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Something else to consider is that they have added extra “tiers” for valor upgrades. So even a score of 1000 will let you upgrade to 236 ilvl.
Mythic+ Rating Requirements Account-Wide to Upgrade Gear
There are four ranks that require an achievement pre-requisite to progress further.
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 246 (Rank 12) or higher requires a Mythic+ rating of 2000
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 242 (Rank 11) or higher requires a Mythic+ rating of 1700.
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 239 (Rank 10) or higher requires a Mythic+ rating of 1400.
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 233 (Rank 9) or higher requires a Mythic+ rating of 1000.
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 223 (Rank 7) requires a Mythic+ rating of 600.
- Upgrading an item that is Item Level 226 (Rank 6) or lower requires no achievement.
Note: As you can see from the list, WoWhead says the achievs are account wide…perhaps someone else should verify
Update: Had someone else check…it is definitely not account wide.
Me too.
Blizzard/Kaivax/Linxy, we’re waiting to hear from you on this…
At this point I just want a blue response as well, I don’t care if the change is intended(even if i do disagree with it), but I just wish there was more communication
It is no longer based upon an achievement like season 1, it is based on the new Blizzard mythic+ score. As these scores are unique for each character, your alts no longer benefit from your main.
Id be willing to put money on it being an attempt to curb buying carries like everyone is always shouting for them to do. Previously, buy a carry to get ksm on one toon, benefit on multiple. Now you would have to buy multiple carries for the same result.
This is not a value judgement on carries or alts, just thinking out loud
Same with the PvP change to require a win every week for the bracket to count.
A 1 shot carry buy is much less lucrative there now that you can’t sit a bracket the entire season and get the benefits.
Aside from the carry situation for Mythic+ dungeons, I kind of appreciate this change from the perspective of the competency of a player on their alt. Gaining the benefit of the player’s primary character to gear up their alt does sound convenient, but it leads to geared alts where the player may not be able to perform at the rating of their main. Having the alt develop their own rating shows individually they are capable of performing at the rating they have achieved versus an inherited and synthetic rating of potential.
Unfortunately Valor is time gated anyway so the capacity to earn it bears no resemblance to past currencies.
Yeah…the amount of gates to slow progression…it challenges me emotionally sometimes (lol).
Well that sounds like a step backwards.
This was never a problem with raider.io because no matter the item level you could see the IO of that toon and the main.
