Korthia is not for casual players

Just give people so much of the new currency they get their entire gear to max ilvl in a day

No way should it you know, take time or anything to max out a set of the new gear

Why? and who the Fu@@ are you btw?

you’re right. The game was bustling in 9.0 after all. So many people grinding anima. It was sooo much fun. Could barely see vendor through the crowds in bastion. The forums succumbed to the waves of people happy with the endlessly rewarding anima grind system. And now it’s once again bustling, 2 days after the patch. This will surely be another well-received system.

Exactly!

I could also see versatility being an important stat for open-world content.

It used to be that once they sold us a $50 game, they didn’t particularly care how long we played. The big thing was making sure we liked it enough to buy the next one. But the industry is moving toward subscription-based games like MMO’s that need the subject to keep playing—and paying—until the sun goes supernova.

Now, there’s no way they can create enough exploration or story to keep you playing for thousands of hours, so they had to change the mechanics of the game, so players would instead keep doing the same actions over and over and over, whether they liked it or not. So game developers turned to Skinner’s techniques.

Yes, “over time” is the key idea here. That’s why I think the bulk of the rewards should come from daily and weekly objectives, so that it is a long-term reward for all your toons rather than farming nonstop on one main toon.

The reward system is clearly designed to keep you logged on and in Korthia, trying to get all rares each day and loot as many treasures as possible, which is more of a hardcore, min-max activity than a casual one.

Research is the new Stygia.

you know there’s nothing stopping you from logging in do your 3 daily quest and logging out. YOU DONT NEED TO PICK UP EVERY CHEST. YOU DONT NEED TO KILL EVERY RARE. There’s your getting gear “over time” comes in. What you’re asking is instant gratification to have a full set of 233 gear and complain it’s not for “casuals”

honestly now is the best time to do it. There are so many players killing things that you can leech off them. And doing things there and get rep w/ death’s advance gives you ability to purchase 200ilvl gear and upgrade them to 233

This game is horrible. I went over to BC classic and have no intention of coming back to retail as it is just HORRIBLE.

I haven’t even been to Korthia do I even need it ? My item level is already 225 mostly from doing raids and stuff.

no not really. If you dont want to do it, it’s really up to you. Not really sure where the new raid is so maybe just pays to unlock it. It’s a good 1-2hr quest chain

Um, what? lol.

I’m a casual player, I don’t do group content at all right now, and I like that it takes some effort to gear up.

I don’t want to just be handed an easy ilvl, that’s absolutely the problem I had with 9.0. I like having goals to work on.

My idea of a casual player is one who doesn’t have much time to play and so can only earn the efficient awards from quests, weekly events, and other clear objectives. They care about both power and cosmetics, and typically have multiple toons to do world content or legacy content on.

For some reason, hardcore players and game devs think that all casual players just want to farm a zone aimlessly for currency all day. I believe that is more of a hardcore casual, or a min-max raider trying to earn every last advantage.

For example, raiders and game devs assumed that casuals would be happy farming anima nonstop in 9.0. Casuals want their anima, but they would like to actually see rewards at a decent pace.

This entire game is not for casual players. Did you get the memo? Ion sent it out when he first took charge.

Thats not the game. Thats one and only one aspect of WOW. It shouldnt be the only way to gear.

Just let us burn through the content super fast. Provide nothing casual to do for people who want to play more than a couple of hours a week. Heck, just send us all the rewards in the mail so people can have them as fast as possible and not have to play the game at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not quite, Benthic gear was messed up with it’s stats which made it BiS even without higher ilvls.

Curious if we will see any of that shenanigans with dom slots.

Most daily quests do not award relics/research, and when they do it is not very much. That is the major issue: You can’t just log out or you will never get anywhere.

No one can ever be done with anything in Shadowlands. Not even casuals.

how much more “decent” pace you want. Doing just 3 quest each day will give you around 500 archivist currency. You also pick up 1 200ilvl gear. That’s a good pace already and it’s not even taxing to do. You keep saying you want decent pace but let’s face it all you want is instant gratification

ITs their mentality as elitist, the devs cant help themselves.
