Korthia gear upgrades to 226 only when you reach Rank 6?

At which point did i say that gear is irrelevant? I said the upgrade to Rank 5 at that time is irrelevant. Please read first.

You read. You are saying that by the time you unlock the upgrades it will be irrelevant. That’s only true if you are raiding or doing m+.

The gear isn’t for you. It’s for casuals.

Do you understand who the gear is for? Do you understand basic math? Do you understand how they want this timed longer so people aren’t Normal raid geared quicker than gearing through the raid?

By the time you can get 226, you can also just upgrade to 233. 226 should be Tier 5, if 233 is Tier 6.

Also, if the unlock was account-wide it would be “meaningful” for alts, but since every alt has to reach Tier 6 they will very likely have gotten 226 gear from Normal raid or even just a +2 Mythic dungeon for vault. Since they likely won’t need 226 gear by the time they reach Tier 6, it’s irrelevant.

As someone who will only achieve that ilvl via korthia, its far from irrelivant.
As someone who will keep subbed to get that gear, its far from bad for blizzard to add it.

Im sorry that the full game does not all cater to you. But there is not a single player out there who can say it does

You show an upgrade from 220 to 226 at Rank 5, but the UI in-game for that upgrade NPC shows it as Rank 6 for both of the last two upgrades (226 and 233). That’s what some people are complaining about. This discrepancy is in the OP’s title.

233 Korthia gear is for players who don’t play the end-game content and just do social content and collect mounts. It isn’t meant to be a primary form of gear progression.

Its gear rank 5 but you need rep rank 6.

Wrong ranks. You’re talking about rep ranks. That chart is specifying the gear rank. It was posted to show that it’s still a rank of gear you need to purchase and you need to go from one to the next. You can’t skip ranks.

I guess I’m saying I don’t understand why the 226 Catalogued Research (CR) upgrade is gated at Tier 6 reputation and not Tier 5 reputation. Once you have Tier 6 rep you can upgrade straight to 233 if you have enough CR currency. It seems like 226 being Rank 5 gear, it should have been gated behind Tier 5 rep so there’s a “progression.”

Hahaha, what? Are you seriously challenging my math when you just copy pasted information from Wowhead to prove a point that you still didn’t understand? For argument’s sake the post was directed to Blizzard and I am not sure why you are getting so cocky about this. Oh and let me throw in some maths for you for context and hopefully you will understand what the issue is:

Say you reached Tier 5 today with Archivist’s Codex (Revered), IF you could get the item that would allow you to upgrade your gear to 226, which you CAN’T, I repeat you CAN NOT as it is only available when you reach Tier 6 aka exalted you would need:

15 Slots (if you are using a 2-hander 16 if not) x 4250 = 63750 Catalogue Research (68000 for main hand offhand) to upgrade all Korthian gear to 226. This does not include any Catalogue research needed to buy the relevant upgrades to get the storyline (and reputation progress).

Now you are telling me that 63750 Catalogue Research farm, which I find to be impossible at this moment even for the most hard-core players, is something that a casual player or an alt (the intention of Korthian gear as said by Blizzard) would come by easily/effortlessly?And if somehow you did manage to farm all that CR, then I am sorry but yeah you should deserve if for the time and effort spent. Oh also, you can’t upgrade to Rank 5 yet because you need to have reached Tier 6 (exalted) with Archivist’s. Also when you reach Tier 6 you can also buy Rank 6 to upgrade from 226 to 233. And because you don’t seem to comprehend the matter in case, yes Rank 5 and Rank 6 are unlocked at the same exact moment making Rank 5 IRRELEVANT but merely a meaningless number in a sequence

As it is, it makes no sense

We should be able to progress our characters while waiting to unlock rank 6 rep instead of holding on to it all until we hit tier 6, and then upgrade multiple slots at once

I like to think this is an oversight on blizzards part but I don’t think it is

Yeah it does seem like an oversight. And man, the catalogue research needed is immense, so I can’t see how this is meant to be as a catchup gear system for alts/casuals
