Killing addons alienates older players

I’ve been playing since launch and I cannot wait to get rid of all these addons/weakauras/buttons etc etc

I wanna see my screen again.

I love this sentiment, but I also spent decades in software development and Blizzard changing
FROM: “removal of addons will be at the END of the process when we’re sure we got it right”
TO: “we’re ripping off the band-aid up front, so if it doesn’t work out of the gate, well too bad”

is I think the thing that’s objectionable about the current plan.

bad players and bots pushing this nonsense. gl blizz, better have your backup plan ready when people quit

I’ve been playing since Vanilla (with a few vacations when pissed at Blizzard).

These changes are long overdue. I fully support them. If anything, they may not go far enough.

Same, I’ve long been all about customizing my UI as well but I’m also kind of sick of it and can’t wait for the new, clean looking default UI.

I’ve been wanting to switch over to the default UI for awhile now but felt like it was lacking and from the changes I’ve seen it looks like I can finally make the switch.

Because he upholds the systems the elitists use to exclude and oppress.

Even if he believes his ideals are perfectly harmless, they maintain a corrupt status quo that only hurts the community.

If you think wow is made more accessible to the vast majority by forcing people to download 50 addons and 20 weakaura packs then your genuinely lost in the sauce and nothing anyone says will get through to you.

hyberbole much? Maybe you’re the one who can’t be gotten through to. I have…2 addons I really care about, and none of the weakauras I used are downloaded, and yes, it makes the game more accessible.

Just because that’s been your experience, or you’re parroting some streamers or world first person doesn’t mean anything. It’s a large playerbase, you certainly don’t speak for us all.

That didn’t take long.

I’m past 50 myself, but I don’t use a lot of combat add-ons. So I probably won’t be as affected as others. Now, if they ever decide to remove “all the things“ or “postal“, then I may have some concerns.

ask yourself if you want the game to improve at a base level so you dont need addons. if your answer is yes, there you go.

if your answer is no, then yeah you are absolutely lost in the sauce.

looking at a game objectively and saying it needs to have a third party tool to help track things in game is a objectively crazy take.

almost no other game in existence works like this. your just so entrenched in 20 years of this idea that wow needs addons.

I think they should ban all the addons. Blizz is being too soft.

Accessibility should never be an afterthought relegated to a third party source IMO.

The fact that it has been for so long is ridiculous. People with disabilities pay $15 a month to play this game just like everyone else and should be equally catered to by the devs.

Actually, how about you ask yourself if there are different people in the world who may have different needs as far as customization instead of applying a blanket statement that implies what works for some people would work for others.

I’m not lost in anything, you’re ignorant.

so let me get this straight, you want every single game in existence to be customizable to the point of having weakauras and addons like in wow or you wont like those games or play them?

you are absolutely lost in the sauce.

boots up mario kart - hold on guys i gotta download my weakaura driving pack or i wont be able to play!

Nope, I’m as old as it gets and I love killing of external addons , byeeee. Been playing since classic and I hate what’s happened to the game over the years especially post dragonflight with talent revamp

Thank you, watched it, was informative. Need those ‘combat warnings’ aka DBMs in my game.

This assumes Blizzard can actually make the correct changes to design philosphy to compensate for what they will be removing which I have 0 faith in them doing correctly at the start.
