I’m pretty okay with losing all these addons. They trivialized encounters to the point of an arms escalation between system mechanics and add-on authors.
I’m old. Been playing since you know when. Actually considering jumping back into some casual raiding or mythics too.
My whole thought on the whole Addon debate is similar to WoD and their original stance on removing flying back then.
Both are a case of trying to put the genie back into the bottle. Now granted they plan on doing their own versions of the various addons player use but the question is , "If their in house addons fail to perform to player standards will there be a backlash from players like there was in regards to no more flying in the past.
I’m well on my way to 40 and I’m feeling that in my reflexes. My position is that it depends entirely on how Blizzard handles encounter and class design… if it’s truly tuned for the absence of addons then there should be no problem.
I’m tired of people who complain every time the game becomes more approachable, or the ultra hardcore have their golden pedestal slightly shortened. And I’m really sick of people who have a meltdown any time any new concept is introduced to the story.
If killing addons makes those players quit, I see that as an absolute win.
Man, visibility for the thread is good, but some of you are a bit too “passionate” about this. There’s no need to be disagreeable or rude to each other.
I’m pretty passionate about it and I especially enjoy the personal attacks they’re making against you as well the ageism and assumptions on your personality
I’m sorry but if you think hitting a button every 1.5 seconds or having to actually watch where you’re standing or what the boss you’re fighting is doing is too difficult without addons telling you when and where to pee and how vigorously to shake it to make sure you got every last drop off is the only way you can go without staining your underwear, then maybe this isn’t the game for you. I hear Hello Kitty Island Adventure is getting new DLC soon.
Nearly almost every other game in existence works just fine without WA’s and addons. In fact most are successful because they don’t rely on them like wow currently does.
