Killing addons alienates older players

it doesn’t assume anything. they have to move in this direction. whether they succeed or fail is a totally different subject.

There you go with the hyperbole again, did I say that? Different games, apples and oranges, I don’t need an alert telling me to spin the pieces in Tetris, so there you go, not every game in existence needs to change. Do I think other games out there could use improvements? Heck yeah, some games could absolutely, 100% use more accessibility customization.

There are games many of us flat out can’t play because of these reasons, but I’m not invested in all of them, which is why you won’t find me on their forums.

Also, what this guy said (which I’ve also already said)

This assumes Blizzard can actually make the correct changes to design philosphy to compensate for what they will be removing which I have 0 faith in them doing correctly at the start.

You can play without WA now, that’s a false equivalency. Why make a tool unusable for people when you can choose not to use it ?

Well what features/functions are they removing that you feel like they aren’t compensating for in the previews of their new UI features?

Here’s links to those by the way:

What is missing for you? It seems like Blizzard is all ears on feedback right now so let them know.

That literally takes 5 minutes, and is a one time thing. Plus I can customize them to my hearts extent to be exactly what I want. Why was this bad again?

Now I have to use these new things, after using those for 20 years… and they don’t even do 90% of what I had before.

Actually “now I have to” is false. I’ve already unsubbed.

It sounds like, based on the video that Flower linked, that the add-on creators are being included in the process of improving the base UI add ons. So that’s a good thing, right?

I can’t pretend to speak to accessability, but I would think some of those features would be ported in the base UI. (Not a weak aura user)

Because it drives away anyone who isn’t already entrenched in 20 years of WoW’s design philosophy, which itself has evolved largely because of WeakAuras and addons.

New or returning players don’t want to download a dozen scripts just to function. They don’t want to sift through guides, Discords, and WA strings before they can even play at a basic level.

That addon dependency arms race made WoW less approachable, less intuitive, and way more bloated than most modern games or even older ones.

Every single UI addition they have made to the game to mimic addons have been garbage. Closest they’ve gotten was DF overall UI modular changing which was decent, but nowhere near as good as stuff like ELvui.

I have 0 faith they will target nameplates or details or even raid frames as good as what we had prior. I could care less about DBM or WA for raid fights as I don’t use them.

And it’s driving away the actual playerbase. Kids don’t even play MMO’s anymore so these “new players” aren’t even a thing lol.

Their cooldown tracker definitely needs a few improvements, but so far it already looks so much easier to use than Weak Auras to me.

What is missing so far for you? What would you like to see?

ok so your logic is, no new players are coming in, so lets keep making it more complex and less accessible even to our current casual playerbase and drive them away too?

thank god you arent in charge of wow

Exaggeration? God I hope this is exaggeration…

I wont know until I see how bad the UI additions the Midnight are for what they are removing. I just consider it bad taste to remove customizations to the game, they want their built in additions fine. Prove they are good before removing alternatives. That’s all I want

Have you like never seen a single person streaming wow? I don’t mean the big content creators, just go browse smaller ones. 90 flashing things on screen, ai voices or noises ringing in their ear. It’s literally accurate.

I remember you are one of those annoying people, when blizzard first announced that they have intention to remove addons from the game a few months back. You are one of those trolls who attack people that warn others that blizzard will be removing all combat addons, telling them to watch the interview or BS, and steadfastly defending blizzard saying the interview is just ion saying things will happen slowly and might not even happen.
So ya, you prove to be a real BS.

Here’s a video you can check out and an article about it:

Now is the time to check these out and leave your feedback about anything that is missing for you to make sure Blizzard doesn’t screw it up.

I also love the troll being antagonistic hiding behind a hidden profile and an alt character

Details fully breaks if it cannot read the chat pane in Combat, which it won’t be able to do.

You’re too old to be a doomer… stop it!

You’re old enough to look at the big picture and not focus on what’s right in front of you… come on… be better
