Now that’ you’ve nerfed scorpid poison into the ground, make kill command increase its damage again.
Can we also let all pets learn bite and claw as a QoL buff?
my rake has claw and bite and hes always out of focus. You think you want all pets to have claw and bite, but you dont.
Ya but it would be nice to have the option to use it or lower the CD on bite.
It wasn’t. Previously the first stack of Scorpid poison was the same as Lock putting out corruption. That’s just broken. Scorpid shouldn’t be a pocket Affl lock and do more overall dmg than one while being a Raid boss.
Now Scorpid pets won’t outperform Locks hopefully.
Yesterday I made an Alt hunter named Petsbroken to test and see how strong they are and well it’s silly. I made the swim and long travel from Darn to Durotar to tame a level 10 Scorpid. It’s just wild how exponentially better they are than anything else at just level 10.
The poison was wildly calculating damage wrong and in a manner that made gameplay difficult for other Classes. It definitely wasn’t in the realm of being ok. Hunters still have a crazy tool kit and tons of utility/damage. They outperform a lot of other classes and now have options on other pets hopefully.
Hunters have 3 sources of damage. Auto shot, pet auto attack, and pet auto ability casts.
Arcane shot is 1-2 dps.
Serpent sting is 1-2 dps.
Obviously pet abilities need to be strong. It’s 30% of the incoming damage. Warriors are doing 300+ dps, and you’re on here crying about a class that’s barely doing 160.
Anytime that happens the game is ruined for everyone else. Pets really shouldn’t do much damage and should provide utility/buffs to the Hunter/party.
That’s like 3 times as much as casters. You do know Pre-raid BiS level 25 casters are doing 55 Dps right. I did the BFD raid and the Scorpid pet alone did more total damage than both locks.
Furthermore the pet out damaged several other Classes. It’s just not okay. It never will be okay. People don’t want an NPC that follows a character around to be a raid boss damage bot. That is just bad design.
Pets in WoW have never had good design and when they have any strength everyone else suffers. If Pets are going to exist the time is now to redesign the thinking on them where they aren’t such a sabotage of gameplay. This goes for ALL pets too. Lock Pets shouldn’t be this powerhouse either. It’s bad design.
Okay, then make it so warriors who are spec’d arms/fury cannot use weapons. Pets are the primary source of BM damage. The hunter themselves are basically target dummies. The pet can be CC’d and scorpid poison can be dispelled. It also can only apply once, from 1 hunter. So if you have 2 scorpids attacking you the 2nd hunter is ONLY doing auto attack damage.
Don’t move the goal posts. By your example then warriors are doing 6x the damage of casters. Even more reason to nerf warriors.
i think before saying a class is ruined we should wait for the patch and test it out and then the data will speak for itself for now everything is just speculation
Not sure why you keep brining up Warriors the issue is Pets and their design. Even with modest damage or power Pets ruin gameplay. So perhaps they shouldn’t do damage and their design should be deeper than that.
Yea that’s bad design. Anytime BM has been strong in the history of WoW it ruined the game for everyone else. Anytime Demo Locks have been strong it ruined the game for everyone else. Pets shouldn’t be like that or do much damage. I have already said Pet design in WoW has NEVER been good and maybe it’s time to work on that.
Pets doing damage isn’t the way. Nobody likes an NPC Raid Boss Damage Bot Pet Class. It makes the game unplayable. Just the way it is.
I’m not moving the goal post just stating fact. Pets shouldn’t be doing more overall damage than other Dps Classes. Pets were doing 4-5 times too much damage and likely still will do too much damage after these changes. Pets should offer something else.
Because to a BM hunter their pet is their weapon. In the same way a a 2h weapon is to arms, or dual wielding is to fury. Perhaps you should expand your mind a bit on sources of damage and how classes are meant to do them. Pets doing damage and having HP is fine. The hunters in these cases are doing nothing but auto attack damage. Nerfing the pet’s survivability is like making it so a warrior can have their weapon directly attacked by their opponent. How would you feel if after 4 hits from your opponent your sword was broken in combat and you had to do a 6 second cast before being able to do damage again?
Warriors have been 25/40 raid slots in classic for 20 years, and they are on track to be again. Stop trying to gatekeep raiding by crying for nerfs on classes that don’t need it.
Play a warrior then.
The PvP warrior experience is not the same as PvE warrior experience. You can be full BiS and get killed by a druid sitting in cat form spamming Sunfire on you and if you got the rune to charge in combat, you just get stuck in combat, try to charge, then get rooted as they tickle you to death.
Yeah, that happens to hunters right now too. Druids can hibernate beasts, dispel poison and then just spam sunfire on a hunter. I think we should give druids a disarm ability so warriors can feel equally as helpless.
haha yeah this is very true… my pet (the rake - dps cat) is so squishy now, I have to stop auto attacking to contineuously channel mend pet or he dies to a mob his level and if he does die, i have to wingclip and turn on aspect of get the hell out of here speed to attempt to rez if i have any mana left for him to go back into the fight at 50% hps and 25% less happy and I cant feed him while in combat (to get his happiness back) so hes already doing 25% less damage not being “green”…
Yeah. But casting hibernate on a pet only works if the hunter is asleep and not seeing you cast because the spell pushback from them shooting you is enough to let the pet get to you, and at that point you’d spend 3+ seconds trying to put the pet to sleep while the pet kills you. Dispel poison doesn’t work because they can run you OOM by protecting Scorpid poison with Serpent sting.
Good riddance.
Yea it’s always been terrible design. It’s a shame. It doesn’t work for WoW. It would be okay if this was a single player game but it’s not.
I feel like I’m just repeating myself and what I’m saying isn’t really sinking in.
Nope because Pets are NPCs. It’s okay for the playable character to have power not Pets. It never will be okay in this type of game and anytime Pets have started to achieve even modest power it ruins the game.
Pets shouldn’t do damage and have always been designed poorly which is why when they get strong everyone complains. This is a design issue obviously.
Who cares I don’t play a Warrior and furthermore wouldn’t play one in SOD unless they get some buffs to other areas and better depth. They are miserable to play so I don’t play one.
Hunters needed it because Pets were extremely broken OP and doing 4-5 times too much damage. Pets were the best Tanks in the game and also doing more Overall damage than other Classes. It’s not okay for an NPC Pet to be this god autobattler.
Hunters have no interrupts and hibernate is a 30 yard cast. Good luck getting your pet 30 yards away after they start casting. You’re making BS arguments now.
You know how SPELL PUSHBACK works, yes? Every time you take an instance of damage, your spell gets delayed. Play a caster, hell, play a Tauren. Warstomp is affect by spell pushback and that 0.5 second cast can take 2 seconds to cast and is effectively a trap to push in situations where you think you’d need it.
I don’t think any Pets should be able to go beyond 40 yards of the controlling character. That also has always been terrible design and part of the reason why if they have power it feels oppressive or starts to break gameplay.
With that said they should remove the Dead zone for hunters. It’s also stupid design. I actually think they should have a (Power Shot) ability that is stronger in Close range.
If I can get scare beast off no issues on a hunter pet, there’s no reason a druid can’t get hibernate off. It gets pushed back maybe 1-2 times during the cast. Scorpids have a slow attack speed and hibernate lasts 2x as long as scare beast.
