baine is about as good a character as Erevien is wrong.
So heās like a masterpiece then
Thatās not true, youād still be in it.
The issue with Baine is that heās kind of a milquetoast personality. In a franchise where characters get noticed because of their big, bombastic character traits, or because of their over the top achievements, Baine is just sort ofā¦there. I think that, if they were so inclined, the writers could treat him to some much needed character development, and turn him into a good-natured member of the Horde that doesnāt constantly wax poetic about the merits of the Alliance, but it would take some effort, certainly.
Honestly yeah, they should just show him in conflict with the Alliance. He can be a peace dude and junk but at least show him crushing a knightās helmet and skull like they did in a book. I also donāt mind him killing the 3 forsaken he did, itās not like Sylvanas wouldnāt burn down Thunderbluff if he got outta line.
As āgrossā as having to kill Scarlets to help Voss as Alliance.
Because those Sunreavers were out of their minds and would of killed the Horde along with Jaina without batting an eye.
Baine is the only leader who actually acts like a real leader would. This includes both Horde and Alliance. You all somehow think heās an Alliance lover when time and again heās been ride or die Horde until the exact moment he figures that the current leadership is likely going to betray him.
The Horde could dissolve tomorrow, and the tauren would be sitting pretty because he has been actually diplomatic this entire time. He has created a situation where his people gain all the benefits of being part of a major faction and none of the downsides. Heās also brought in two allied races, more than any of the other Horde leaders, and was the primary point of contact between Zandalar and the Horde during BfA.
Now, do I think he could use some powerup moments? Yes, Shadowlands should be far more tied into tauren stuff. But Baineās relationship with his faction and the Alliance isnāt an issue. In the real world the majority of the faction leaders would have been deposed for gross incompetence. Meanwhile Mulgore hadnāt had so much as an Alliance footsoldier in it since he took over as leader. The only thing that happened on his watch was Camp Taurajo, which was a string of āwhatās the worst that could happen?ā situations. Place that next to whatās happened to OTHER races as their leaders were āleadingā and itās a blip.
Poor Baine, heās just a victim of bad writing like a lot of characters in WoW are. I hope he meets up with his dad in the afterlife and he gives him a pep talk or something.
Cairne died so we could have Baine. Imagine that.
Cairne died so we could have Garrosh. Just as Jin died so we could have Sylvanas. It seems a bout of the villain batting always comes with the orchestrated death of a WC3 Horde leader by a third party, to shoehorn a despot into the drivers seat.
He has met his dad, in the tauren heritage chain. And his mother, too, in fact. And both essentially told him that he was doing a great job and upholding the tauren way to the best of their abilities.
Most of the people who complain about Baine have zero care about actual tauren lore or themes outside of the few events that they can use to āwinā arguments.
Ah I havenāt seen that. I still need Tauren heritage armor. Thatās nice for him.
I mean heās had a rough time of late with being trapped in the maw, the least he needs is a pep talk. What he really needs is years of therapy.
::Baine saws his horn off and is mid mailing it to Anduin.::
Again Baine is fine. Itād be nice to see him fight the Alliance but he hasnāt done anything bad. And before someone says he killed 3 forsakenā¦they had it coming.
Given that Baine is essentially our main touchstone for tauren culture, we have no indication that this isnāt a regular thing for them. Hell, Blizzard does that all the time, expressing some aspect of a raceās culture purely through the main representative of said culture.
Iāve never understood how this would be considered strange when we have a ton of examples of major characters doing things we see no one else of their race do, and then people consider that just a cultural nuance.
Iām pretty sure I saw him fighting at Lordaeron, and being hit by that totem would not be a love tap. So he was fighting the Alliance there, in fact, he was helping to command the defences against the attack from his own ābuddyā, Anduin.
Mom says itās my turn to kill Chaos.

Even if it is, youāre okay with it?
Putting aside whether or not people dislike his friendship with Anduin, I donāt think thereād be a problem if Baine sent a small wood carving or something like that. But cutting off a body part, even if itās a small extremity like a horn tip, just seems weird to me. It kinda comes off like a romantic gesture (like a lock of hair) except heās Van Goghing himself to do it.
Murder baine.
