Kicked for Running the Full Dungeon—This Needs to Be Addressable

So, here’s a situation I think many tanks (and maybe other roles) can relate to: You’re running a dungeon, pulling at a steady pace, and deciding to clear the entire dungeon to get the quests done—not skipping bosses, not rushing past mobs. Nobody’s died, the run is clean, and yet… you get booted because the group doesn’t want to do the full dungeon.

Like, really? What’s worse is that it’s not about bad gameplay or griefing; it’s about me taking the time to ensure everyone has the chance to finish quests or earn extra loot. Instead, I get punished for not racing to the end like it’s a speedrun.

This feels like it should be a reportable offense. Kicking someone for actually playing the content shouldn’t fly. There needs to be some kind of system in place to protect players from getting kicked unjustly just because the group wants to skip content or speed through. If I’m not wiping the group or causing issues, how is this fair?

The dungeon finder system should encourage teamwork and completion, not punish players for trying to do things properly. Thoughts?

If its for quests, can you not do the dungeon as a Follower dungeon?

I did one of those today, City of Threads, because the queue for dps was just too long.

Edited for those who missed various offshoot comments: Yes, it was pointed out to me that they were talking about TW dungeons. So obviously Follower dungeons have limited use.

Where you kicked for an incredibly stupid reason? Yes. But were you kicked unfairly? No. The majority voted. In a group, the majority rules.

Now is it a far bigger issue that nobody checks the VTK reason and just clicks “yes” regardless of the actual situation? Yes.

Did blizz need to change the deserter debuff to be far more punishing in 11.0 than it was before? No.

Has anyone been able to explain why blizz should have changed the deserter debuff in 11.0? No. Was the people running specific boss farms in early 11.0 enough of a reason to change the debuff? No. Did blizz forget about early SL? Yes. Was it far worse in early SL than it ever was in early TWW? Yes. Did blizz feel the need to change the debuff in SL? No.

They can kick you for ANY reason.

Does it suck? Sure, but that’s the game at this point… you are subject to your teammates. You could increase penalties, it’s only gonna mean less people want to play the que’d dungeons. Most people just want to speedrun, I’m one of them… I usually just leave if the tank is slow.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. Getting kicked in group content and being left with a 30 min debuff because you were playing the game well never happens. All the people in the forums have just dreamt it. It’s an illusion.

I see you mentioned team work, so… at the start of the dungeon. Did you ask the other 4 people if they needed the quests or anything along those lines?

^ this. You’d be surprised what a little communication will get you these days.

As if the answer to said communication wouldn’t be just “lol” and a kick.

You wouldn’t know if you don’t try to communicate.

Not everyone is a :troll: trying to kick someone for sport.

Have you considered asking the rest of the group whether they would like to do the rest of the dungeon, instead of unilaterally picking for them?

Indeed it does, you should try some of it.

Wouldn’t hurt to take a quick look at everyone’s levels. If they’re all still levelling there’s a good chance they will appreciate the extra xp.

I do this all the time and have never been kicked for it. I don’t doubt this happened, but I do doubt it’s common enough to be an issue.

You get more xp from killing only required bosses. Optional bosses are a waste of time

Depends on the boss, and in cases like Timewalking it means more badges and a chance at the mount.

There are definitely optional bosses I don’t go after though, I agree.

I wouldn’t kick a tank in a situation like that, but I typically save the quests that are completely internal to legacy dungeons for solo runs at a later time since I like to stop and read the quest text.

On the other hand, if I have an external quest that requires a dropped item or boss kill inside a dungeon that’s current content, I very much appreciate the tank not skipping any bosses.

its most likely the time-walking dungeons - I dont think you can do those with followers. I know for the classic dungeons ive been wanting to complete the quests and so itd be nice to do a full run just to clear them
