What’s the hatred behind this? I’ve always been a keyboard turner and I have been so used to doing it… What’s the goal for just using the mouse? My mouse only has two extra buttons on it. Let me know coz i’d’ like to know what i can do to improve.
Turning with your mouse and rebinding A and D to strafe (Default being Q and E) increases your mobility by increasing the speed you can turn your character and giving you more ability to travel in any direction whilst still facing towards the enemy and maintaining line of sight.
Hold down right mouse button at all times, then either use W or left mouse button to move forward, change direction with your mouse and make smaller adjustments / widen your turning circle by incorporating strafe.
You can even use strafe to effectively run at full speed away from something, just sideways, then ever so slightly tilt your character back to face it with your mouse. This lets you run in a very shallow arc away from something while still facing it enough to cast spells.
If it works for what you’re doing, do whatever you like, however you like. Like the man said, there’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s.
It doesn’t take up a mouse button, you just move but hold down right-click at the same time.
It’s faster and more precise. For example just using WASD it takes me the best part of 2 seconds to turn around. Using the mouse is virtually instant.
But ultimately, if you’re not comfortable with it, don’t force yourself to do it. I did it before I even learned that keyboard vs mouse turning we even a thing. It was just intuitive and comfortable for me.
I don’t think I’ve gotten commentary for the way I turn.
Reece’s tho: I take the top off, eat the peanut in the middle then have the bottom of it.
In PvP, it’s almost necessary for most people.
In PvE, it’s more efficient for most people.
It’s like the keybinding v. clicking of abilities. Most people will play much more effectively with keybound abilities as opposed to clicking on the action bar.
BUT—and this is a big but:
Everyone is different, and there are some people out there who play at very high levels of complexity and difficulty who click their action bars instead of keybinding.
If you don’t have any issues in your gameplay because of keyboard turning, then don’t sweat it. It doesn’t matter.
If, however, you find yourself unable to cast well during movement phases or unable to move through mechanics as smoothly as you would like…look into it.
It’s not a big deal.
I hate Reece’s but is that even possible…? I thought it’s like a singular mass. Do you have a special Reece’s cup pocket knife?
/puts forehead on her desk and covers her mouth with both hands to keep herself from doing it…but does it anyway.
Reese’s
I don’t have to use a knife i just use my mouth. It is very possible!
I doubt other parts of the world are different but I live in Australia if that makes a difference.
It is possible that the chocolate has a different recipe there, but…
I am an American who has eaten Reese’s peanut butter cups my entire life, and I always scrape the top off with my teeth and eat that first so it’s like a little open-faced peanut butter cup.
Our waxy American milk chocolate is good at coming off in one solid piece if you get the torque just right.
/fist bump
It gives me great relief that someone else consumes them the same way.
/fistbump.
Ok I was like… I thought it was with an S to a C.
But the dude has a method to eating them, I trusted him.
I’ll be honest, using your teeth for some reason did not even cross my mind and obviously makes sense.
That’s been my set up since the beginning. A/D for turning never felt natural. Middle finger is on the W, so Q/E feels much more natural to turn
Ive tried both and its mouse moving for me. Turning with the KB feels like a big truck trying to maneuver compared to my mouse that is set to max sensitivity.
All movement on the mouse…all spells and abilities on the KB.
Oh I don’t have turn bound at all. A and D are strafe, Q and E are spells. All turning is done by pointing the mouse.
Watching a keyboard-turning tank try to turn around in a dungeon when some mechanic has the mobs or boss jump to a spot behind them is comical to me.
Keyboard turning is extremely slow and imprecise. Idk how you could dodge mechanics effectively while keyboard turning tbh. Could never shimmer effectively or point orbs in the right direction either.
Mouse movement is just faster and more precise. I have a gaming mouse, so my strafe and backpedal are also bound to mouse buttons. Thus all my movement is on my right hand, leaving my left hand free for abilities.
I do still have WRESDF bound to movement, though, for those dumb quests where I have to chase something around and click on it. I’d love to be able to repurpose them all for abilities, as they are prime real estate, but have never made the jump. Maybe I’ll do that soon.
ETA: I used to keyboard turn a lot for healer roles, as I use Healbot, and it presumes you’re going to be clicking for abilities. But lately I’ve been playing preservation Evoker and I haven’t felt the need. Most of its spells are empowered or have a cast time, so I have to stand briefly still anyway, and I’ve also been getting better about moving my mouse into the right spot and then quickly shifting to mouse movement anyway, and big AoE heals are keyboard mapped already.
In a pinch I do use the Mouse. Ill hold both buttons while using the q/e to manuver.

Im always listening hard to see if I can hear the …Beep Beep Beep Beep, when the KB tanks are backing up lol
