Keybinding

How are you all keybinding 123 target macros or 123 cc macros without a mmo mouse?

Thinking I’ll need to do shift+alt modifiers or something.

f1-3

1-3 + shift/alt/ctrl

Really, though, I feel like most specs don’t benefit too much from having 50 binds for everything unless you play a lot of 3s or shuffle on it and are very comfortable.

Shift-Z, Shift-123, etc.

Easily reachable keys. Some stuff I just tab over too if it’s not kick or a ranged stun.

Plus I hate mouse over macros so I don’t use those.

I tried mmo mouse but didn’t like how it made my hand/thumb feel, and it was actually an annoying mouse to use outside of mmorpgs, so now I just use a death adder (two buttons on side).

It’s obviously less efficient, but works for me as far as reaching the goals I like reaching:

I use scroll wheel including with shift modifier for targeting, and I supplement targeting enemies with tab also.

I use 1-6 and as far as G for non-modified bindings, and I strictly use shift and ctrl for modifiers. I might use alt for non-pvp stuff.

I only make focus binds for cc abilities, or targeted mobility/team support (e.g., safeguard), and I’m not hardcore enough to do 1/2/3. That is going to be better if the binds don’t overwhelm you or make you feel uncomfortable.

Also have a mouse over target frame keybind where I can focus using enemy frame without changing targets.

MMO mouse is def better hands down, and probably required for the most part if you want absolute maximum efficiency, but any mouse is going to be good enough for most non-hardcore-/r1 players imo.

Earth goes through a cyclical disaster cycle

To spare the details our magnetic pole is weakening faster and faster each year.

Between 2035-2050 our shielding will be so weak that a solar flare from the sun will knock out all power on earth for a decade

After that decade the pole reversal is going to tilt the earth sending the oceans to the land with tsunamis of biblical proportions.

The safest possible location in North America is the eastern side of the Rockies.

Appalachia may hold the water back but it’s unlikely
The Ozarks may but it’s even less likely

It’s possible the waves break through the Rockies.

Interesting that Bezos is putting his bunker and super yacht (ark) on the east side of the Rockies ya?

You can join Atlantis Lemuria and Mu at the bottom of the ocean or you can start preparing now to keep your family safe. Can you live without electricity and grocery stores for 10 years and will you get washed away by the flood waters or not?

I use

  • Alt + 1/2/3
  • Ctrl + 1/2/3
  • Shift + 1/2/3

for example. But I also use

  • E → arena1
  • Alt + E → arena2
  • Ctrl + E → arena3
  • Shift + E → focus (if it does exists)

Q and R basically the same way with just abilities onto those units.

But I also know quite a few people who just have targeting macros and only one bind for the ability. Like they are targeting what they want to cc, press the cc button and target their actual target again. Sounds complicated, but I guess that is just a matter of getting used to.

Will you tell me if the Phillies will win another World Series before the rapture?

i just click the gladius healthbar or tab
im comfy staying at 2k

I have 1/2/3 for kicks and everything else is mouseover. Can’t be arsed to do arena targeting for every ability

I’m genuinely surprised you didn’t make a comment about EFX’s mom and a magnetic pole.

Now Im curious… r1s actually do this?
I feel like it would interfere with other content too.
the time it takes to push your combo buttons and the possible mistakes vs just mouseover the gladius
I can’t hit anything outside melee range anyway so maybe thats why it sounds like a huge meme to me?

They 1/2/3 for stuff cause it’s better if you have the muscle memory down

different people do different things

jahmilli has always been a “click frame to target to decurse” (lifegrip lifeswap ect) player
i have decurse self/healer/dps macros

he’s 100x better than i’ll ever be while playing significantly less optimally

petkick uses focus macros
i have arena 123 for stun/silence/grip/chains

he’s 1000x better than i’ll ever be while playing technically less optimally

i think the most important thing is that you’re comfortable with your setup and you can react within 1.5~ seconds using your setup

i use arena 123 macros for
shear ; purge ; hex ; lasso ; as well as self/healer/dps2 macros for earthshield ; decurse ; healing surge ; ect
while that is without dispute the most optimal way to play the game it’s not going to be the difference between you and the best player in the game playing your spec
with that said, the average player given weakauras and adjusted to using kick/stun 123s will absolutely perform better than they are now

wow isn’t a fast game, the gcd slows it down pretty dramatically and buffs telegraphing power enhancements means you’re always at least 1.5 seconds ahead of what is going to happen to you unless you’re completely unaware (most people are completely unaware)

interdastin, how do people actually bind these?
I thought mmo mouse was a meme now im curious if people really do have 100+ keybinds

for me personally, naga 123 is shear 123
naga 456 is hex 123
naga 789 is purge 123

mouse wheel up is target arena 1
mouse wheel down is target arena 3
mousewheel click is target arena 2
shift + is target arena pet

i think nobody needs all 9
there’s plenty of really good mice with 2-5 buttons that i think are just straight up beneficial

but naga is so useful

Personally I use Help/Harm Mouseover Macros and not a single 123 bind, although having the 123 binds is quicker and will make you react better to stuff. I don’t push to be Glad so I’m fine with it and always manage to reach ~2.1K each season.

I guess it makes sense if you got extra buttons in a row
trying to think of an intuitive keybind for this with logitech hero and my gaming keyboard where the extras are all over the place. I have plenty of random keybinds that are accessible.

But I cant think of an intuitive way to line up 3. theyd end up in random shift combo buttons that make fingers dance, rather than sit nearby intuitively

Old outdated practice, get better targeting and focus binds.

I use ctrl a s d for targeting and alt a s d for focus.
Only have a normal 5 button mouse and have used this setup since tbc.

Most of my spells default target focus with modifier for target. Kicks/cc on index finger. Pinky+index for spells, thumb+other digit for targeting/movement.

Optimal pve setup as well.

Enjoy

Edit: added protip - set target last target to something like shift+f (i have ctrl and alt+f as set focus) so you can instantly kick or cc any 3 targets in pve just like youre playing arena :sunglasses:

I’m just an old man so I click the thing I wanna attack and have some focus macros for interrupts and CC.

This is part of why I hate BM and Demo. I fought a bm+demo+rsham this season and they had so many nameplates that by the end of the game I only saw red in my vision.

I found 3 extra keybinds for it by fully shifting right one key :right_arrow:.

Take every single keybind you have and move it one key over to the right. W becomes E. S becomes D. 1 becomes 2. Etc.

Now all keys are in exactly the same place as they were before so you’re not re-learning any keybinds. But now I have Q A Z for arena 1, 2, 3 which feels normal because pinky was always selecting targets with tab anyway.
