I see in 8.2 that we’re getting vendors with gear that can go up to 430 for WQs
A few questions:
- Why wow keeps insisting on the “raid or die” approach? It clearly doesn’t work anymore. The majority of the playerbase don’t have time and in-game social circle to be able to raid
Keep rewarding continuous play with good gear. It’s necessary. Reward players for playing the game. More difficult content should give more and faster rewards, easier content should reward at a slower rate.
A regular, dedicated player that plays for months on end should be able to reach the same ilvl of a raider who only log once a week and play for 3 hours.

I haven’t seen this. There is a ton of other things people can do at 120 besides raid.
Not sure where you are coming from or what exactly you are complaining about.

Had the feeling of making a humorous post, and at the same time make people think about things =)
Imo it’s dumb to talk about “raid or die” when M+ is in the game. Even if we ignore “catch-up” rewards, WoW is less “raid or die” than it’s ever been.

Yes, keep raining purples. Clearly this model is working as WoW reaches unprecedented levels of popularity

Having leveled 5 toons to 120 so far while only playing one (this one) in higher-end content, here’s what I think…
I think people need to stop worrying about what other people get. It’s not (nearly) as easy as GD would have you believe to gear a toon out to i400 doing nothing but Emissaries and other world content.
I know this because 4 of my 5 120’s did just that.
Emissaries scale with your ilvl. So a fresh i290 120 is not getting Emissaries for 400 gear. They’re getting them for i315 gear. You won’t see 400 until you’re at least 390, and that’s going to take a while.
If it were as easy as some people think, everyone in Cutting Edge guilds would be gearing through WQ because it would be the fastest method. Further, Blizzard would never allow it for that reason.
The time-gating exists for ALL players, even the ones who just do WQ.

What you are describing… aren’t we living it? I am confused…

Exactly. This toon is a fresh-ish 120, and I’m about 330 ATM, looking just 5 mins ago at a dungeon and WF, the reward gear is about 325 - 340, tops. It’s not like I’ll be on par with gear my 407 hunter has after months of mythics. I don’t see why people are whining about getting gear scaled to your lvl progress.

Reported for what? Telling the truth?
There is absolutley nothing wrong with players reaching a high ilvl at a much slower pace doing easier content. I can’t think of a single valid reason to disagree.
People always trot out the welfare gibberish. Their attitude would be like someone with a high paying job making $2 million in a couple years and then retiring, who then whines that someone making $100,000 a year reaches $2 million in twenty years.
Harder content should reward better gear at faster rates. Easier content should gradually increase a player’s ilvl as well.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Blizzard seems to be cracking down on frivolous reports.
The “flag” option is not a downvote button, people.

I wish I believed this.
If they would actually start punishing people it wouldn’t be abused nearly as much as it is.

“Raid or die” hasn’t been a thing for 3 years (since m+ was introduced).
No it isn’t why does someone who only does world quests need heroic raid ilvl gear? Giving heroic raid ilvl gear from world quests/emissaries makes rewards for heroic (to say nothing of how poi tless it makes normal raiding) raids feel very, very pointless. I can get more and better gear rewards per week from emissaries than i can from heroic raiding. That isn’t a good thing.

So make item level a non-factor? Why not incorporate guildwars 2 gear/level design at that point.
You could wear the same gear for the whole game, even if it was all exotics.
Of course Ascended is better, but the difference is so minor.
And stuck at level 80 all game, instead grinding masteries forever.
This is the truth of the matter…
