Keep hammer of light 12 seconds

I’m not stalwartly against 5hp spender, but I think the form they gave it in Templar (with intended behavior) is the healthiest way we had yet.

Any kind of repetition to me falls into the pitfalls of what VoJ was and I’m just not interested in it, especially knowing they’ll just nerf HoL if they were to ever decide to make it “spammable”.

Well they seemingly fixed it so, there’s that.

This bug was what made Ret dps competitive in the last few days. My Enh Shammy with 40ilvl less can hit Tempests harder than HoL. And honestly, felt really fun to manage holy power for 12secs, ret rotation is too easy and simple. The 5hp management gave some complexity to the rotation, and was also very rewarding.

Ret single target is kinda weak as it is, if they wanna keep the 1 HoL window, it should hit way harder, or buff our TV to compensate.

instead of coping how how we want a bug that basically makes us ignore all of rets kit, how about we ask for ret buffs? hmmm? something actually good for the spec

most assuredly blizz “fixed” something. because according to the tooltips on the hammer of light for prot pally:
light’s guidance
eye of tyr is replaced with
hammer of light for 12 seconds
after it is cast
(not anymore - it is a 1 time use and 45 second cd)

shake the heavens:
after casting hammer of light
you call down an
Empyrean Hammer on a nearby
target every 2 sec for 8 sec
(has yet to proc after tueday’s patch)

hammerfall:
(passive)
shield of the righteous and
word of glory calls down an
Empyrean Hammer on a
nearby enemy

while shake the heavens is
active this effect calls down
an additional hammer
(after Tuesday’s patch - no longer does this)

click eye of tyr and you get one use and then a 45 second cd timer begins. zero procs of any kind, none of the things above do anything anymore. it’s basically a 1 time use every 45 seconds for wasted 9 talent points.

so disappointed in the devs, blizz and anyone else involved.

also i am curious how and where you came up with the % for the “hero talents are only supposed to be 15-20% of your damage”?

No I didn’t. Never did once.

Everything in this post is a response to various things people were saying on these HoL posts, including the other 2 that are currently popular… Hence the quotation marks… I was just quoting someone else and then responding - I never said I agreed with the claim

it was very viable in pvp as a prot pally as it worked perfectly, the gameplay had to be planned out for the 12 sec window and it gave meaning to maximizing the dps window, having an effective dump ability felt amazing and this change should have considered how it effected the class as a whole and not just rets, they need to address the ret rotation issue with this while not killing prot in the process

Rets rotation issue includes tuning and boredom.
While the rotation is moslty unchanged from BFA, some QoL changes did come from DF 10.0.7, followed by tons of nerfs, many are still present. The rotation has be pruned and pruned with optional self
pruning sprinkled in and more optional self pruning in 11.5 through passives replacing active casting as a choice. The rotation was easy and is getting easier, noticeably so with the passive hero tree performing better than the active one by a fairly large margin.

HoL being used more than 3 times a minute gave us a larger optional, suboptimal, change in the rotation we’ve basically had for years. Before HoL was restricted more, some players complained, after it was restricted some players complained. It is impossible to please everyone but, prior to the change min maxers could have used Herald, and those that liked “bugged” Templar could of had that option. With the change implemented, Templar isnt interesting enough to be used for fun, and weak enough to be avoided by everyone.

The change provided no benefit. Someone was uneducated enough to say they wouldnt use builders if they could spam…a 5 holy power cost spender, but never explained where they would be sourcing their holy power from. I take the time to talk to people with these hot takes to bring information to them but also to ask leading questions to expose how much they don’t know. May Blizzard put them on a list so their opinions may never be used for game design, in Jesus name Amen.

P.S. if bugged (functionally accurate to the tooltip) HoL remained for Prot I would have enjoyed it.

As a prot pally. HoL being castable repeatedly after eye of tyr was the most fun I have had in a long time. And it actually made prot pally feel fresh and exciting for the first time in over a decade… but I guess having fun is too much to ask. Just tweak the numbers if it was overpowered… I dont understand why they had to remove it altogether.

this could not be more true, hopefully blizz will see this post and the community speaking about this change and realize what they have done, it worked perfectly on prot and gave the spec/class flavor

PVP is the mini game. It is the lowest populated game mode because the Rating system has been broken for years and the same toxic try hards keep rated pvp gate kept lol I got my 2k a few times and got off that hamster wheel

Herald of the Sun is busy dumpstering Fury and UH DK atm. Nerf dawnlight to reasonable levels and buff Templar to have a proc hammer instead of building to 60 so it can be a single target monster.

That isnt true and isnt going to stop anyone lol I PVPed last in Dragonflight and the rating system was a hunk of junk. Objective fact that the system needs to be redone completely, its 2024 ffs lol regardless, my point stands, PVP has shrunk down to the smallest portion of the game and calling for class changes as drastic as this for PVP reasons wouldnt be healthy to the greater playerbase.

Pvp hasnt been this big in a long time thanks to rss and blitz. The mmr system is flawed but it isnt stopping you or anyone from getting to your targets or whatever rank you are capable of

They already did, by 15%. I’ll admit, the previous 350 and up ticks were insane so the nerf was warranted.

Putting it down to 50 would be acceptable and a wider range for EH to hit targets would go a long way.

Because it was ticking for consistently 350K and up.

There’s no way in hell Blizz was gonna allow that. Even after the nerf, we’re now 4th in M+ according to Archon Warcraft logs which updates every 12-24 hours.

Them keeping it at the previous levels would have the community in an uproar for nerfing us with pitchforks and torches.
