Name is in the title. I hope kael’thas gets a redemption arc and then return to his people properly. With him as the new grand magister(maybe) the blood elves will keep rising to great power like its their birth right. I hope blizzard listen to the blood elf fans here. On top of that. He would after joining the blood elves, joining the Horde too of course. Horde is in dire need of characters with big names and Kael and to extends Draka from Maldraxxus are perfect candidates to fill our ranks again with fresh people.
There’s a critical issue with Kael’thas coming back to run the blood elves. He’s dead.
I doubt they’d raise him from death to lead the blood elves, not with Lor’themar is still breathing, and making him undead just throws him straight into the Forsaken.
His character was wasted potential the last time blizzard dunked on him. So him getting a good redemption arc could fix many errors of the past if Blizzard decides to make an effort for it. Also I don’t want him to lead the blood elves. Grand Magister would be enough.
His character was wasted. But now he’s dead. And you can’t just bring someone back from the dead without some sort of fudgery involved. Illidan had the fudgery of being a demon.
Kael doesn’t have that fudgery. For him to come back, he could only come back as a Forsaken, which would well…be Forsaken. And no lol.
If he’s getting any redemption arc, it’s whatever the plan for him in Shadowlands is.
Nah he’s gonna stay dead and probably become the new Harvester.
The way Revendreth works is that there are 7 Medallions of THE POWAH OF SIN, corresponding to a Harvester. At the same time, we are under the impression via Revendreth early covenant campaign questing that Prince Renathal wants to “ascend” to be the new “Sire”.
So there are 8 roles:
- Ruler of Revendreth = Sire
- Medallion of Dominion = “Prince”, Harvester of Dominion, the Medallion description implies control over all the other vampires, and presumably was originally in the Ember Ward
- Medallion of Desire = The Countess, Harvester of Desire, who is also in charge of managing the “Noble Hosues” (there are 7 apparently), in the the Castle Ward
- Medallion of Pride = The Accuser, Harvester of Pride, who manages the Halls of Atonement, and the Ceremony/Cathedral Ward as a whole (including the Archivum, the sinstone archives)
- Medallion of Avarice = The Curator, Harvester of Avarice, who manages the Sanguine Depths in the Catacombs Ward
- Medallion of Wrath = The Stonewright, Harvester of Wrath, and also the one who makes the Stoneborn, in the Military Ward
- Medallion of Envy = The Tithelord, who manages the villages/hamlets, in the Village Ward
- Medallion of Dread = The Fearstalker, Harvester of Dread, who hunts in the Banewood aka the Forest Ward
By the end of the leveling campaign, the Fearstalker is dead and Prince Renathal wants to seize control. So that means by the end of the covenant campaign, we’ll need a Harvester of Fear to become the new Fearstalker and a Harvester of Dominion to become the new Prince.
So my money is on Prince Kael’thas becoming Prince of the Venthyr.
And hopefully San’layn make an appearance and we get the coveted Dark Ranger/Undead High Elf Red Eyes skin
edit: Maybe Blood Queen Lanathel can be his wife?!
Rommath is an excellent Grand Magister. Don’t write him off.
That having been said, the biggest issue of Kael’thas’ return to the Blood Elves would be the Blood Elves accepting him back. I’m not entirely sure I see it to be honest. If anything it might divide the Blood Elves yet again, this time between people loyal to Lor’themar who has seen them through so much, and those loyal to Kael’thas as the rightful ruler of Quel’Thalas.
I think we’ve had enough Civil War stories for the Horde as is.
Still, I’d like to see Kael’thas come back, I just don’t see him returning to Quel’Thalas or the Blood Elves is all. I do think if he comes back he would work for their interests, but never stand among them again.
I doubt that a more humble Kael would even demand leadership. Maybe he would be happy toa accept Lor’themar as new leader and even complimenting him that he did such a good work as a regent lord.
Lol Lanathel would do anything Kael’thas asked her, I mean she might even go to on an adventure into a very cold icy place and… you know the rest.
He SHOULD return to the Blood Elves. The UNDEAD Blood Elves!
Vampire Kael’thas for San’layn race leader!
Fixed.
You’re right. You’d have to, like, physically go into the afterlife and then spend, like, the questline of an entire zone dealing with him in order for it to make sense and feel earned. And what are the chances of that happening?
Bring back Kael but not as a leader.
Make him distrusted but begrudgingly accepted by most belves. Have him be atoning for his TBC crimes by assisting his people, and only really bring him into the story if you need an arcane counter to Jaina’s mary sue-ness.
I agree. The power level disparity between Alliance and Horde has grown ridiculous.
I do not think he is dead, he could transcend and become a ventyr, as uthuer is now a blue human
People whined about Thrall when he was temporarily empowered by an artifact that has been shown as a BFD long since before WoW was even a thing.
Meanwhile Jaina has leapfrogged past that power level, Malfurion is a still a thing, Anduin just kinda became insanely powerful in the light, Tyrande got even stronger divine powers, and so on and so forth.
It’s a hilarious double standard.
People whined about Thrall because he was put into the role that Med’an was supposed to fill, and everyone hated everything about Med’an. Naturally Thrall in his role wasn’t any better. In fact, for a lot of players, Thrall was ruined by his Cataclysm development.
Trust me, if Thrall had become World Shaman by strengthening his bond with the elements to a degree no other Shaman had ever done before, no one would complain. It’d have felt perfectly in-character for him.
In what way?
Well if he can mass full heal or mass resurrect entire armies that theoretically much means the Alliance could win any battle simply by means of attrition.
Then again, Anduin seemed pretty powerless to save victims of the blight after it was deployed at Lordaeron so it could be that his capabilities with have their limits.
PS: In terms of bringing Kael’thas back, let’s not. If he is to have a redemption arc, let his actions being rewarded by having his sentence in Revendreth reduced to time served and then he continue his afterlife onto someplace more pleasant. Azeroth shouldn’t be in his future.
I’d really prefer not to just bring back dead characters when we could build up new ones or the ones we have. Lor’themar is finally getting a little action. Didn’t like it when they did it with Illidan either.
Metzen denied that and said Me’dan was never supposed to fill that role.
Honestly I always saw the World Shaman thing as being more about having Garrosh become Warchief without killing Thrall, rather than for Thrall’s story benefit.
My bad, thanks for clarifying. Pity though. That means they intentionally ruined his character.
Kael’thas was decapitated, and his soul is currently in the place of ultra-atonement. I doubt he’ll be returning to Quel’thelas anytime soon.
The mere fact that he has relevancy in the story again, however, is a big deal.
