I played at launch and got up to level 67 before quitting last June. I just resubbed and was going to try to hit 70 but my computer can barely run the game anymore. It’s extremely laggy etc when before I didn’t have any problems and I raided all through vanilla classic on this computer without issue.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Any help is appreciated.
Do you have a desktop app for the Graphics card, it should have the update there, if not you can go to Device Manager and find the Graphics Card under the “Display Adapters” tab, then click to update them.
The lag also happened to me. I fixed it by going into the in-game settings and clicking System>Advanced>Graphics API and then choosing “DirectX 11 Legacy”. Hope this helps some.
I just did all that, restarted my computer so it could take effect etc.
Now when I click click Play on battle net to open WoW I am getting an error popup that says “Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft. Please install a 3D accelerator with dual-TMU support.” and it won’t open the game at all.
Edit: After reading another thread it looks like I will have to fully uninstall then reinstall WoW to fix that 3d error message so I guess I will let you know if it worked later.
Update: Just got done uninstalling and reinstalling wow and battlenet and am still getting the same error message.
“Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft. Please install a 3D accelerator with dual-TMU support.”
And my guess - your machine is a “budget gaming machine” from 2-3 years ago?
WoW needs a bit of CPU. If this is a PC that can be upgraded, try getting a new CPU, GPU and some more RAM. If it’s a laptop, turn your settings down as much as possible and limp along until you can afford a new one.
Go into your system settings and then to advanced. Under resample quality set it to billinear and try that. It that doesn’t work set it to point. That setting absolutely trashes AMD video cards and was added since you quit.
