"Just makes friends!" .. and the "add friend" feature doesn't even work

I’m having a chat with someone I just met. We click! Good vibe! So I try and add him as a friend:

“Player not found.”

wtf is the point of this???

And no, I’m not using Btags. I don’t want to give someone my Btag info, and now they see every time I log on, every chr I log on, everything I’m doing. wtf??

I just want to see ONE chr. People should only be able to see my ONE chr.

Most of my friends, the IRL ones, have been offline for 11+ years lol, and my Vanilla friends it said offline for 18-20 years, it’s impressive and depressing at the same time lol.

I won’t ever remove them, because nostalgia. I know many of em IRL and we still talk.

And the ‘player not found’ thing, I’ve had that exact issue before- I think it’s just cross-realm wonkiness.

You used to only be able to add singular character friends from your own realm.

Is your friendship situational to being on that character? I don’t see the big deal in sharing tags unless you enjoy ghosting your friends instead of just telling them you don’t wanna hang out at that exact moment and just want to vibe.

Also, these days you can ‘hide’ or go offline when you really aren’t.

I use it all the time to hide from my twin brother that’s always playing Hearthstone, so he doesn’t find out I’m playing WoW sometimes lol. You’re invisible.

Just because he always ribs me for it, ahah.

You can not hide from friendship, mortal.

Am I not allowed my own privacy??

Imagine having to even ask that question. lol

Imagine not understanding how flawed your own question is. No one needs to see everything I do on my account… just because we ran ONE DUNGEON.

It’s like looking at memes over coffee and asking someone to marry you.

To me that sounds more like you want to disguise yourself like Chameleon from Spider-Man so that your friend won’t see you on the street

OMG, are we friends now!!!

Lol tbh it sounds like you may not even want to be friends. :joy:

How do you know they don’t feel the same way as you do? They might lol.

Most of my WoW friends kept the distance unless they wanted to run something, and since I heal and tank, I’m usually down.

For what though, just add him on discord. This game is a single player game now

Yep, seems like unless they are in your server, has to be Btag.

This. Be an adult and say you dont wanna do tea time today.

A workaround would be making a community with this person, it’s pretty simple. You would actively have to check it to check in on this specific character, but it’s something.

Nobody cares that much about your life, trust me.

If it doesn’t work automatically you could right click their portrait or name in chat, click “copy character name”, and input it manually. If necessary you can also add their realm tag following a dash at the end of their name.

I can’t imagine what you’re like in real life. Did you come born with an aluminum foil hat on?

What do you mean!? Because they can see where their characters are located in the game at any given time due to bnet, theyre clearly able to garner SSN and his mothers maiden name! Respect his privacy!

Because it’s such a stretch to request privacy?? Because you run ONE dungeon with someone, they should have access to you on EVERY chr?

What a ridiculous take. There no conspiracy theory to simply expect that the ONE chr you have an interaction with, be able to communicate with that ONE chr.

But I’ve seen a few of your replies in recent posts. It’s the kind of thing I’d expect you to say. Just an endless stream of bad takes. gg

Maybe the chat algorithm that runs to detect violations knows you both better than you do and saw that long term it just wasn’t going to work out.

Dodged a bullet man.

WHAT ABOUT MY PRIVACY? JUST BECAUSE I POST ON ONE THREAD YOU CAN SEE ALL OF MY OTHER POSTS?
