if your buying something to hold onto just cause you think it’s gonna make you rich someday, might i reccomend buying stocks, or art?

i mean, surely they’ll be worth more than a set of code in a video game one day…

So could TCG mounts/pets, i purchased literally every single TCG mount and pet from the AH with gold i earned in game before tokens were even a thing. People can feel however they like about these Twitch drops, but i wish everyone would stop pretending like all original TCG owners are credit card wielding whales because it just isn’t true.

I agree. They should look into Bitcoin.

After all, pixels in an aging game and crypto both appeal to people who like to invest in imaginary crap.

Hey! I’m still collecting 20% interest on a coin that certainly won’t go the way of Luna.

OP this would have happened if the TCG was still being produced and they reprinted the card.

TCG items dropping in value because they’re rerelease isn’t a new thing.

the physical card is still rare. The in game items you have likely came from hackers duping them in the past. Those are not rare. And if you really went and spent thousands of dollars buying 3 of the same bit of cardboard thats a you issue

That’s why you have to collect stuff that they state is never coming back and is actually limited time like mage tower stuff in legion, the wow movie promo items, the motorcycle mount on horde etc…there’s often legal mumbo jumbo that prevents them from ever returning no matter how much some people here beg for them too.

I hear these things called NFTs are pretty hot. You should buy a bunch of those to offset your losses on the cub.

I think the thing about it is…no one here cares about your supposed economic plight.

Oh no! Anyways.

You had years to sell and flex your stuff. It’s fine don’t be a baby, and with tcg you don’t even really do anything in game for them.

Threads like this make no sense. Thus far nothing that has been put up on the shop or Trading post have been items that you would actually earn in-game. Every single cosmetic in both these systems has been nothing but marketing gimmicks from past years or recolours and therefore have no “sense of accomplishment” tied to them.

If you were trying to make gold from any of these items, you accept the fact that you were just trying to mess with Blizz’s marketing department and therefore are legitimate targets for getting burnt.

FOMO is one of the worst things in a game.

new player comes in
damn thats a cool armor set, how do i get it
oh, go back in time and do challenge mode for it!
Yep, screw that.
Let people get their stuff.

I have the renowned explorer set, and a bunch of mage tower stuff and i couldn’t care less if the rest of the playerbase acquires it, i legit feel bad for the renowned explorer being gone, like what the hell?, one of the few “casual” sets that look good can’t be acquired anymore.

But now I can get the cat. I deserve to have fun. No?

I swear people told me they wouldn’t go this far with trading post stuff, well guess what? You were absolutely wrong to think they weren’t.

Hoarding for years? I did the mistake of buying them with hard earned gold recently because I enjoy collecting rare things, again I’m the fool obviously. Now the issue is I don’t really want to farm or see any effort collecting rare things because they simply loose their value.

They should have offered Spectral Cub, which was never available in the NA game.

I wanted to collect rare things, that’s all. If I had known these would not stay rare I’d of never even touched them. Now the issue becomes if nothing stays rare, what is the point in collecting them or seeing effort getting them or farming them? Impossible to get items I can understand why they would reapear in the game in some form, but this one is far from an imposible to get item.

Considering many players will not pick it up while it’s available, that many players are not playing right now, and many more will join after, I suspect it will remain relatively uncommon.

On top of this, the trading post version cannot be caged and sold.

It remains a rare item. There is still value in the TCG version.

But I think it is better to bring these items back in some capacity, rather than having them propel a secondhand market for a defunct TCG that I don’t think anyone can even remember how to play.
