Just Let Everyone Get The Mage Tower Appearances

The warlock greenfire quest literally reward the Title: Black Harvest for player that got their greenfire during the current content.
It was a good system

This is such a festering cancer, too. So much removed content in the age of scaling, when those same challenges and experiences can be preserved in some capacity. It really is counter-intuitive for drawing in new blood.

Rhay: the problem isnā€™t just the items or acheivements.

Itā€™s removal of major content that Iā€™ve a problem with. Do you know how frustrating it is to not be able to ACTUALLY complete the main story lines of expansion packs because ā€˜oh, well it was time limitedā€™. I could care less about the items as long as they added back in the quest lines, they could change the items like they did with the legion power object to just be gray vendor trash for all I care.

The problem is you canā€™t complete the story without doing the quest lines that reward those items, meaning you canā€™t, as a player, complete stories for old content ā€˜unless you were thereā€™ when the content was new, and thatā€™s NOT a good feeling

Itā€™s literally 36 appearancesā€¦ why canā€™t we ALL have all the Blizzcon pets? Why canā€™t we all have Atiesh and the removed from the game items from vanilla? Why canā€™t we all have the original epic mounts? You canā€™t just stop at the mage tower appearances.

This is one of those things that isnā€™t a big deal once they implement it.

If they had made say ā€˜mythic raid armour setsā€™ exclusive to those that had got it at the time, then yes people would still fight for it to never be accessible.

Mage tower is even less significant as that because it was solo content that was easy by the Antorus patch.

Fun fact: the entirety of the teldrassil scenario was removed because it was prepatch content so any new player coming in trying to understand the story doesnā€™t really understand whatā€™s going on because they chronologically butchered the hook of BFA.

Good question. Why canā€™t we? Because people would be angry that the things that are pretty much NEVER seen in the game anymore arenā€™t super rare and unique? Come off it. This is such a silly argument.

You act like thereā€™s a dearth of things for new players to do. Thereā€™s almost too much content for new players currently.

Tell them to do the Balance of Power questline if they want a cool mog appearance thatā€™s not overly common. I actually prefer the Neon Bear from BoP to the Bro Bear personally.

This is one of those times I wanna say ā€œgoodā€ because gah, it was so frustrating to see the Horde smiling and happy to commit war crimes on a massive scale because dommy zombie mommy asked us toā€¦

I agreed with you on that in my response - not being able to finish a story line for example. Itā€™s a ubiquitous problem spanning a few expansions. It would be nice for them to neaten it up without harming the preservation of sensitive achievements earned through whatever expansion.

I get it. Honestly, I do. Iā€™ll never get the Pandaren Phoenixes, and that makes me sad. Iā€™ll never get the WoD moose or Legion bird, and that makes me sad. Iā€™ll never have access to the frankly sexy weapons from WoD Challenge Modes.

I think it would be very callous for people who have these (or any) limited time content to sit there and mock the people who donā€™t have it. I also think it would be equally callous for people who want that bear form (or any of what I listed) to hear a story like mine (or others) and go ā€œYou went through that hell because it was limited timeā€¦ but it shouldnā€™t be limited time anymore because I didnā€™t get it.ā€ Iā€™m not being self-important when I say I donā€™t think those levels of pain and frustration are anywhere near equal.

But I also know many people had Guardian Druid ruined for them because they canā€™t get that form. To which I point out - most of us are fine with retextures being passed around. You want the bear form? You can have it! I want you to have it. Just not the versions I tortured myself to get. And I honestly canā€™t understand why the people who advocate for empathy (not you specifically) are pushing for the ā€œall or nothingā€ approach (where they render all experiences contrary to theirsā€™ moot) when thereā€™s viable middle ground everyone can support. My advocating for more retextures is me acknowledging peoplesā€™ frustrations and pushing for them to have what they want, without stepping on what I went through.

Thereā€™s plenty, yes, but is it the content they want to do? Is it for a reward they want?

Take the new Korthia research for example. It takes frigginā€™ forever to get. And the main rewards are going to be expansion-exclusive gear upgrades, for the most part. Once this is old content, whoā€™s gonna care to do it?

That content there? Thatā€™s content theyā€™d care to do. It comes with a reward they desire.

Exclusivity should matter. I donā€™t want to play a game that everything is available from start to finish all the time. People should be able to feel some prestige and allowing people to get the Mage Tower appearances now would just be a slap in the face to all the people who grinded to get them. Blizzard was up front with us back then, ā€œThese are exclusiveā€ if they didnā€™t tell us until the end, then you would have a point.

Yeah, Iā€™m not questioning that. I still disagree with the fundamental argument is all. Respectfully, as a matter of principle, I think the removal of content is bad. Bad, bad, bad. And I also find itā€™s a self-imposed hurdle that serves a smaller purpose. If others can take on a similar challenge, I feel they should have the same access to said rewards.

I honestly find that druid form ugly as hell. I donā€™t get why people like it so much. Itā€™s aesthetically pretty dull IMHO.

Not getting your MT appearances is hardly equivalent to festering cancer. Quite a bit of hyperbole.

FYI most achievements, the vast majority, are not exclusive, they are easily obtainable. I realize thatā€™s not good enough - itā€™s a festering cancer, or whatever.

Unreal man. Seriously.

I completely agree with this. If I could make it so that all future content wasnā€™t limited time, Iā€™d do it in a heartbeat.

I just want them to keep their word on what is limited time though, because theyā€™ve already done the damage

So the Mage Tower is the only legit content now? Iā€™d argue that most want the appearances because theyā€™re gone. Itā€™s an just an OCD thing.

Outside of the Mage Tower thereā€™s still a ton of things to do in Legion content that rewards cool looking stuff. Iā€™ve already mentioned Balanced of Power but thereā€™s also the Artifact re-colors to go for, the Hidden Appearances, the Class Mounts, etc.

Okay, so people keep saying exclusivity should mater, timed events, blah blah blah.

Why should that be expac specific content instead of Aniversary type content?

Items =/= content, they are just items, give alt apearances for modern completion on those things, sure, thatā€™s fine and dandy, Iā€™d be okay with that.

Locking out content, like, actual things to do/places to go/stories to tell, no, thatā€™s not okay, and thatā€™s the biggest issue I have with things like the Mage Tower.

Remove or change the items to be different for new players doing the thing, sure, thatā€™s fine.

Removing the option to do the content at all, is not.

There is a strong difference between obtaining something someone has yet to obtain, and them not ever having a chance to obtain it.

But nearly everything you couldnā€™t get when it was current is something you can go back and get now.

Things disappearing from the game is an exception to the rule, not the rule.
