Just Let Everyone Get The Mage Tower Appearances

This is wrong. It was open to anyone who rang the gong within a ten hour period who completed the quest.

And it is very similar because they added the model for the mount back. They took the most exclusive mount in World of Warcraft, recolored it, and added it back into the game.

How is that not a more serious offensive to “exclusive” content than adding new colors to the mage tower stuff?

Sorry to say, but it seems that way for both sides here. Compromises can happen without the people who got the appearances back then losing how they feel about it. Having alternate appearances that are similar would work.

Ope! I lied, I do actually use the appearances on a character.

(This is Chentao.)

I forgot how awesome the Resto Shaman Mage Tower shield looks with the Enhancement off-hand in main.

New appearances for new challenges - that I support.

Personally I’m seeing a pretty well split set of opinions which, for the ‘keep it exclusives’ don’t really feel like they have a place beyond ‘well I did it’

It’s the same dadgum argument I’ve had people use for why minimum wage is fine, because back in the 60s they could get an education, have a house, and support a wife and kids as the only working person on it.

MMO need to bring in new players to join constantly as players leave/move on. If you go in and realize ‘oh, there’s alot of really cool stuff that I 100% can’t get because I wasn’t here back in the day’ that’s enough of a discouragement to enough people to keep them away

Right. It’s a pretty good split. I get the counter-argument, but that doesn’t mean I’ll concede to it. I don’t see the issue with being able to acquire something if a similar challenge is introduced for it. Plain and simple. I don’t see the prestige in doing something earlier rather than later, and I sure don’t support the deliberate removal of content.

Exclusivity needs to matter. The people who are playing at the current time SHOULD be rewarded for playing NOW, and not for doing it far later.

Why? Give me ONE good reason exclusivity should matter.

That’s what anniversary event items should be for, not arbitrary time gates that may or may not, be ways to wrap up storylines for an entire expansion pack

If people are going to join WoW they’re not going to quit because of the MT appearance. I might add, there’s plenty of appearances (for druids) available through legion just not the MT ones.

If they are going to quit because of that, that rare person, they wouldn’t have stayed anyway.

I don’t think many people in this thread care that some folks have the grey, black, blue, purple, whatever color werebear that the folks who did the mage tower have.

Most people would like an opportunity, be it in the mage tower, or somewhere else, torghast, to get a new shade of werebear.

Folks still have their exclusive color(s) that they earned and no one else can get. But now everyone can get access to a pink one should they choose. (I’m just throwing out random colors).

Conversely, would anyone quit because they were reintroduced? Doubtfully.

Because other than just raid, pvp and dungeons, what else do you suppose people to do?
Do wow have racing mini game like FFXIV chocobo racing, breeding new chocobo, Gold saucer for people to farm point for mog and mount?
Absolute nothing, all the old content is just mog and achievement grind, nothing really matters.
Greenfire quest was the very last content that never got remove because of community bagging to keep it around.

Honestly, I think Luuni poses the best middle-ground solution: introduce new shades for the existing models.

I feel that the originals should still be obtainable, but it seems reasonable and should ease that sense of missing out at least a bit for some.

They got them. They’re invested in the game… why would they have to quit?

Rhay: there are more than just mage tower in this boat

MoP has the Legendary Cloak quests, which resolves the actual storyline of the expac and allows access to areas on the timeless isle, so it blocks out entire boss encounters and full mog sets, not just the cloak

WoD had something similar with the Legendary Ring questline, a worthless item now but the storyline was important to the plot

Legion: idk never really did this, cause well, I played resto sham and they locked part of my core kit to pvp only and pvp as healer is not fun

B4A: Corrupt Visions and a TON of special stuff which, iirc, was removed, no?

Because we played THEN and it should be recognized. We bothered to give Blizzard money and be active THEN. How is it my fault that someone else who is new to the game didn’t? Give us NEW exclusive stuff to earn now so that they can earn it now.

If people have accepted the ability for players to straight up buy gold and then buy items, they’re not going to leave because of reintroduced content.

So someone buying some of the most exclusive content in the game (mythic raiding is fine), which can be argued as to destroying the integrity of the game, but adding back old content is where they draw the line.

Not every item implemented needs to continue to be obtainable. People who played THEN, should be recognized.

My only gripe with mage tower appearances is that they didn’t keep them spec locked. There were tons of people asking for them to be class and not spec locked while it was current content. They said REPEATEDLY that they would stay spec locked indefinitely and gave various reasons why they were making that decision. Then they walked it back years later. A lot of players didn’t unlock things for specs they had absolutely no interest in playing and now with the reversal on the specialization lock they can’t get them, myself included.

I don’t see why they should remain unobtainable anymore, especially since they already changed their mind on keeping them spec locked.
