If they’re going to do all the work to create challenges appropriate for today’s classes and specs playing with today’s designs then they should just make new challenges with new rewards. New challenges with new rewards is new content and a win for everyone no matter where they stand on this topic.

Honestly this like effects no one if they were allowed to regain them. I don’t know why everyone is in such a fit about letting other players gain them. I barely even see ppl use their mage tower apperances.

And hard concept here I know but, some items in the world you can’t buy on ebay. Some items there are only 1 or not being sold…
There were many players who stayed subbed to the end of Legion because Blizz told us these appearances were time limited. It was heavily advertised as such.
Not only would Blizz be subject to accusations of false advertising the players would never trust Blizz again if they ever did time limited items in the future.

So here is my take. You are ok with content being released which offers re-color appearances of the Mage Tower items. The same would go for MoP challenge mode armor ect.
I am all for that. As well. As an option to just letting people smash the tower now to easy mode it.
What I am not for is that wishing things to be hard for others, because they were hard for me. Or getting a sense of pride or feigned accomplishment derived from having something that someone else cannot. Your accomplishment still will stand if everyone had the appearances.
Again I have several mage tower appearances, for the classes and specs I played at the time. Some of them I use a lot, some I dont. But being able to get them was fun at the time. I enjoyed the feeling of getting them. However, someone or many other people having the same appearance, while putting in no effort to get it, doesnt lessen my feeling of achievement. I dont look back to that point in Legion and say, why did I even bother then, if in 3 or 4 years they will just be ez mode. No. It was a blast doing them during that time. Frustrating. But a blast.
And it isnt just the steroid bear. Several of the mage tower appearances are ones I would like. But I didnt play the class in Legion. I played others. I didnt know that in 3 years from then, I would pick up that class that now plays completely different than it did back then.
At the end of the day, I am ok with them being handed out. But I think I would be happier if there was simply a challenging way to get them still. The same with MoP CM sets. And hell, even them fancy mounts. Although myself personally is meh on the mounts.

While some of the artifact skins are really nice looking, I mostly like having them because they’re a symbol of completing very difficult solo content. Having one feels like a demonstration of my personal ability to play the game. They weren’t something that you could be carried through. Even if you outgeared them you still needed to focus and have your eyes on the prize throughout the encounter.
I don’t mind if other people get the visual rewards from the challenges but I’d like something that keeps the visual indication of “yeah, I was a bad enough dude to complete Mage Tower Challenges in Legion” intact.
It’s especially valuable to me as a retired hardcore player who prefers casual content but still enjoys a challenge. I couldn’t demonstrate my ability by mythic raids, but I could demonstrate it through these solo challenges that required less time commitment but still pushed your skills to the limit.
