I typically see this kind of stuff in lowbie group finder dungeons. The stakes are so low that literally no one cares what happens.

I could go for that too.

Even reducing it to no timeout first exit of the day…then add 10 or 15 minutes each additional exit.

that way the innocent player doesnt get zapped as hard…and the troll who keeps screwing around getting kicked over it ends up with a longer timeout every time he trolls a group.

that alone would likely ‘fix’ a lot of the complaints

If we are talking escalation, I don’t think someone should have escalated protection but rather escalating punishment if they are a repeat offender and are kicked from groups as often as some people here are.

I’m pretty sure there is, or was, a cooldown for people who initiate kicks, I also think people who kick too much should be looked at but that’s just me.

The escalation should be punishment based 100%

Under the current “majority rule” system, I don’t really know how else they could provide a solution without changing the system altogether. However, implementing an escalation system would make the lock-out timer consequence more manageable.

And I also agree that people shouldn’t just be able to spam vote kicks either. There should definitely be a reasonable cap on that.

It’s far more likely that there was a reason OP was kicked, and he either can’t figure out what it is, or doesn’t want to tell us. It’s a very very small chance it was truly “for no reason whatsoever”.

No, it’s far more likely you have immature kids on the other end trolling thinking it’d be funny if they randomly kick others out of the group. I have gotten kicked a few times and each time it came out of the blue.

I’m an experienced player that has played all roles over several years, so I know what I’m talking about also when I say you can be doing nothing wrong and without warning get kicked. Just because it hasn’t happened to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

One thing they can do is not implement the deserter debuff until after a few kicks or leaves, or after so many over a certain period of time. The game should not punish you for the acts of others, nor should it discourage playing with others by punishing you.

Agreed on that. I think the VTK system is in need of an overhaul. I did a tally of the times I’ve been kicked or seen someone kicked and I came out to only about %30 of the time I thought the kick was a valid reason to kick someone.

Most of the times I’ve seen it’s either when the run is going smoothly, no ones said anything other than maybe “Hi everyone” at the start, no wipes, bad pulls, or anything and then a kick window appears or I see a load screen and I’m sitting back in town feeling confused and angry with a 30 minute debuff.

The other times it’s when someone makes a minor mistake or does something that adds 15 seconds to a run and some player that I imagine sitting behind their key board with their eye’s bugging out and foaming at the mouth screaming “GOTTAFINISHTHEDUNGEONIN8MINUTESGOGOGOGOGO WHAT!!! KICKKICKKICKGOGOGOGGOGOGO” initiates a kick.

This is not fair on someone who just wanted to get their dungeon done or to new players. At the very least they need to improve the debuff and make it so you don’t get it right away and have to be kicked several times in a short amount of time before it initiates.

I got kicked from a ZF timewalking run a couple weeks ago with my monk. Waited for a minute, then started pulling. DPS started whining “tank hold aggro”, “omg go faster”, and “tank is trash” and then I got kicked.

I was the heals. The tank was AFK.

Report the player for griefing & / or making you unable to play the game. granted, you need to know who was in your group 1st.

People (in general) really need to read those ToS & Conduct things as well as learn how to report players and problems IN-game as opposed to the forums.

Well, no, not according to Blizzard. According to Blizzard, any group can kick any player they want for any reason at all, so long as the vote to kick passes.

I did the same thing when i started healing.
prior to that I was mostly just hitting ‘yes’ to get that stupid box out my face.

After I started healing, Now I can see who is taking damage, details is showing me if anyone is sitting around AFK and not doing any damage, and Farmhud lets me keep track of exactly where they are

I could SEE that MOST of the kicks were bogus cornfeces and not for any legit reason.
Much of the time it was for stupid crap like a tank taking a wrong turn but quickly correcting and some idiot would vote to kick and put some nasty bigoted trash inthe reason box like deranged child.

I stopped voting at all at that point.
If I knew the person hadnt done anything and it passed, I tell them to find another healer too and bail.
I dont play with juveniles who get a kick of ruining someone elses game for no reason.

Unfortunately GMs won’t do anything. I’ve tried reporting it before and I got some copy paste reply trying to look like they were sympathetic while telling me they won’t do anything.
