Guild group finished a layer 11 coldheart last night. 100% every floor. 2 stars.
The only reason I am doing this awful content is because stupid blizz decided it made sense to have people remake legendaries they already have just to change which slot they’re in. As soon as my helm slot leggo is moved to my hands, i am never doing this again.
No they added an extra source of bonus points that is a sliding scale of sorts based on how fast you go and clear it…but just like any other single source of bonus points, it has no ability to hard stop you from moving on or even getting a “flawless” run if you choose to forego those points.
This isn’t a timer like in mythic+ where there is a clear pass or fail condition if the timer is met or not…they are simply bonus points so treat them like such.
You people really are something else…constantly whine and say “timers don’t make things hard” yet constantly prove that their existence does indeed make things inherently much harder. At least with Torghast, the “timer” is literally as inconsequential as it can be.
If anything, the timer is a boon to players because it is “free” additional points for doing what we already are doing.
Then your group REALLY needs to learn basic mechanics…I can almost guarantee you had a crapton of deaths to get 2 stars. Me and a friend on squishy caster alts in a physically buffed torment layer died something like 6+ times total and STILL 3 starred it at the end.
Dying costs 10 points past the free ones you get and is the only real way to get such a low score.
It is most certainly possible to get 30+ anima powers even without the unstable phantasma lure legumeberry. Most of my runs i’m either over 30 powers or incredibly close to them. The upgrades you can get from venari for the requisitioned anima cells are incredibly useful for this.
This is the type of thing I don’t like about the new system. Normally we would press the buff button on the end boss, because it is more difficult than non combat pots and trash mobs.
Normally we would try to take epic powers because they are powerful and fun.
Normally we would double up on powers because they let us and it is powerful and fun.
Apparently, many of the things we need to do to increase our score are the exact opposite of what we have been conditioned to do in WoW, or the opposite of what is fun.
Sounds like both still give you the primary rewards for completing, regardless of the timer. Failing just keeps you from advancing to the next level. The pass/fail condition for both is pretty much the same. Makes sense why people who hate the m+ timer would also hate the TG one.
I still don’t like the whole 4-star lockout. But, I’ve decided to just not care about it. I like the other stuff, like the box of many things, and I actually like Torghast itself. So, I’m just going to play as high as I’m allowed while gathering the Tower Power and hope that in the end, it just works itself out and gives me 4 and 5 stars without even trying. I mean, I’m not giving up cool purple powers - those are way more fun that moving to the next level is - and I’m trying more and more to base what I do on fun rather than objectives.
Side note: I also can’t stop myself from buying all those shoulder mogs that don’t match with anything I have. There’s a part of me that thinks that’s why they added them in there. They were kind of cool designs, but didn’t have anything it went with and said…ehhhh, let’s just put them in Torghast.
I tend to use Torghast as a practice ground. I don’t really care about being overpowered in there, although it’s fun to be. I think I’ve been shooting myself in the foot with some of my Anima Power choices, though.
This. I’ll keep that empowerment buff in mind because I’ve been saving it for bosses or when I thought I really needed it. And NOW the game is saying don’t take anima powers after we have been using them the entire expansion? Crazy. But it’s just another example of the game punishing you for not winning “the right way.” I HATE that.
Well those are just some of the options. You can obviously take them and still get up to 5 stars, but you’ll have to do some of the other bonuses to get there.
There is no punishment for taking a purple power…you are just not rewarded for not doing it.
It sounds the same but it isn’t and the distinction is key. You do not NEED the bonus points inherently from avoiding an epic power if you can make up the points elsewhere…it is just an option for extra bonus points one can consider.
