just leave it always unlocked or bought at max level you dont want it dont use it simple. if they still wanna gate it behind a weeks worth of rep grind the first pathfinder is fine and easy enough. but a year in seems a bit late to drop flying
Until they decide to try, and nerf waterstrider mounts, or gate them behind some stupid pathfinder to lol. Remember when they were talking about making them useless in wod, or Legion? Crap hit the fan there, and they backed off of that one hahaha.
Or maybe, people would like access to a feature that was added to the game over ten years ago? I don’t think they view it as a band-aid fix. You’re essentially saying that people are not allowed to request that this feature be returned in lieu of fixing all of the other issues you see as more pressing. Sure, others (myself included) may view these as more of a priority, but to deny someone the privilege of discussing flight on the basis that other issues need to be addressed is a bit fallacious.
You’ve committed a host of fallacies in your rebuttal and not given any sort of feedback as to how the dev’s ought to address either flight or the issues you mentioned. Though you may be correct in citing RNG overload and repetitive content as not being fun or engaging content, you’ve done very little to further the discussion.
Try this one for size as an added note
On the PTR, new characters (incl new players) start out with zero flight points.
None.
I dont know if this is deliberate or a bug…
Flying is long over due.
People want flying because it makes the game more convenient and because it’s very easy to trivialize the world.
This is a really awkward thing to have to explain because most people don’t push back against “Flying makes it easier and faster to do your dailies” with “Nuh uh”.
When I said it makes things easier and faster, I’m not saying that flying somehow kills your mobs and collects your clickables for you and I guarantee you that no reasonable person thinks I’m inferring that at all. What flying does allow you to do is reduce travel time because you’re in an axis of navigation where nothing can touch you. Moreover, it gives you a lot more control over where you land. If you have a quest that tells you to kill an enemy target that’s in the middle of a village of other NPCs, you can fly over the hut/building/house of the kill target, swoop in, kill them, and take off.
This is called ‘helicopter questing’ and it’s not new. It’s the actual reason why people want flying, and I can substantiate that with the number of people who are absolutely petulant about dealing with ‘trash mobs’ in the over world.
How does flying make leveling, World Quests, Warfronts, Island Expeditions, Dungeons, Pet Battles, PvP, Raiding, Transmog Runs, Mythic Timers ‘fun’ if they weren’t already?
You could fly in broken shore.
Personally, I have been waiting for the day they finally just remove flight all together. It should have never been a core feature and they even admitted as much when they tried removing it in WoD. It will be nice that classic won’t have this feature.
Due to the fact that the Broken Shore hub was a total disappointment (for me), I forgot about it.
I was thinking about Argus.
I understand. My patience is thin with blizzard. I will go to classic if it hits before flight and if they butchered it I am done with blizzard all together.
for me, especially for farming mats and pet battles and WQ’s, i can turn on some music and do my thing. Having to fight with the terrain and getting stuck on a pebble or half a root on the ground… thats not fun and engaging… lets not forget when they have something on a ledge and you gotta run around for another 5 minutes to find the path up there… maybe you enjoy that, but i sure dont and thats what makes me log off instead of doing things in game.
I don’t think navigation is has hard or tedious as you need it to be.
I stopped playing BFA because travel is a tedious slog.
As many times as you lose control of your character it becomes terrible. Flight path? Sure is fun to sit and watch while you can do nothing for 2-4 minutes. Sure is fun riding along the exact same path for the 47th time. No flying is tedious and bad for the game.
I am stunned to say some people seem to think having flight paths meants there is flying…
Draenor pathfinder earned July 1st 2015.
Broken isles pathfinder earned April 11th 2017.
You earned flying in both expansions quite early. Curious why you advocate for the removal of flight while you have these achievements. I can only come to the conclusion that you are trolling and it is hypocritical of you to make the claim that you want flying removed.
From now on any point that you make about flying is invalid and should be discarded as such.
Another thing is this; When you take a flight path it doesn’t take you straight to the flight path you chose it goes to other flight paths that are in between the one you want to go to in a zig zag line rather then straight to your chosen flight point. This also increases the time metrics for Blizzard when you think about it; Oh and lets not forget we have to pay gold for each of these flights.
When we can fly ourselves we can fly in a straight line to where we want to go and at no cost in gold.
In Argus we had portals that took you straight to the portal point you wanted to go without any zig zagging.
Nope. Wrong again. Just like I said to someone else only the new devs say that flying should never have been a thing. Ion and his clown crew in other words. The old devs had no problems with it. And enjoy your classic snooze fest
Would you prefer that the game world be completely flat?
As opposed to having one “correct” path to locations? Yea.
