this topic is like two groups of fairly narcissistic people, demanding to be or remain special in appearance, versus special in ability. its similar to the average debate regarding fotm classes ruining pvp or always getting all the accolades for top dps.
in this regard, i can understand my desire to play characters that are easy on the eyes may be fueled by some measure of narcissism, though frankly, its more a desire to see artful order, like a beautiful geometry, the symmetry of a butterfly vs the disorder of the asymmetrical. order is less stressful on the brain.
where it tips over into more debilitating territory is wanting this thing at the expense of the game, which is why i suggested half elves, thus resolving the primary issue of preserving the health of the game.
I do yes, it tends to happen when people pretend their “what if’s” and “personal feelings”, trumps established, in-game lore and events.
But it’s ok Tarrok, people know that now.
And they’d be right, just like Blood Elves are also another flavor of High Elves.
Key thing is, they’re not High Elves, and even more specifically, the requested Alliance High Elves.
It’s a tiny thing Ion and you seem to forget, Lore-nuance is a thing, and you’re ignoring it.

I can, because it’s incorrect. Not all High Elves are Blood Elves, and Ion forgetting lore-nuance does not make his statement correct, it just means he avoided the question, kinda like Tarrok does on the reg, kinda like you’re doing now. 
The Dev team is not infallible, Ion is not head of writing or story, call to authority does not prove you right, just proves you don’t have an argument past : “Daddy said so”

Most players wouldn’t care one bit, and you aren’t the Alliance. That “slap in the face” bit is one of those extreme language things that gets posters to react and jump in. I’m not doing that here, but it’s hyperbolic.

this is over. void elves have replaced the few elves they hung around. they couldnt copy paste blood elves(high elves) on the alliance, so they created a high elf variant that the alliance side COULD use that would tie into the future light/shadow conflict that we all know is coming in the future
and then ion confirmed blood elves(high elves) have moved on from blue eyes and given them golden eyes. they are thematic opposites now on each faction. now lets pretend vereesa lives in stormwind and wears a 7th legion tabard, where the hell does she and a couple shield mages fit into the story?

There’s a few mages and portal trainers. Some others with uncertain status. Then there’s the Silver Covenant, who I’m pretty sure is being fattened up to be raid trash. Given that the Purge was brought up again in BFA.
It’s not, because not all of them did, they’re still around, even in BFA.

Without using actual High Elves, but Blood Elves, that was the first mistake.

high elves left the alliance. but they begged and blizzard caved when a group of them were transformed into void elves and returned to the alliance led by alleria. that is FAR more then they deserved. and its still not good enough

I think it was a way to proxy the Alliance in a conflict with Blood Elves. I don’t think they are meant to be anything more than an antagonist in their story line.
Most of the population requires time travel to find so it can be hard to say what’s there.
the story of the high elves is not that they stood by the alliance through everything
the high elf story is not a mother raising children in dalaran or a few elves camping in the hinterlands
the story of the high elves is that they were betrayed, renamed themselves the blood elves, left the alliance, and later joined the horde
you have no claim. if you want to play a horde race, then the horde is waiting for you

Some of them lived in Dalaran, and there is a few other miscellaneous groups. Not all of them are Alliance. The Scryers are one example.

And what a fantastic way to introduced playable High Elves, since things don’t need to stay NPC stagnant just because Heca has an agenda.

Most of them live in Dalaran.
All of them are Alliance, the Silver Covenant was literally created to oppose Horde Blood Elves in Dalaran, they’re all Alliance.
