Just give the alliance high elves already

Okay, but then see my second statement. I had a thought process for both sides, and didn’t say which one I believe. Just gave my theories on both sides.

It’s cool and lore doesn’t matter anymore Blizzard just changes it all willy-nilly when it fits their current agenda.

Maybe, but then I guess it could be said that they just don’t want to take the time to figure out a lore reason for putting the HEs back in as playable. I’m not against it. Just thinking on the reasons why they might not be.

That said, I’ve always like WoW’s lore. Yea, they’ve done some retconning, but that happens with a 16 year old game with 3 prequels.

I really think it probably feels like a no win situation with the writers. Like no matter what, if you put them in or leave them out, no matter the justification, you’re going to have a population that is unhappy with the decision.

Maybe the VEs where a way to compromise that. Not that it worked, but I don’t know. I’m not a blizzard story writer. Maybe they just thought void elves were all edgy and cool. (They are cool)

Void elves should get a high elf customization kind of thing, like just give them pale skin like alleria already, EVERYBODY WANTS IT.

Void Elves should have been a cosmetic option for High Elves. Let the reverse happen and shut up the HELF community once and for all. They are nearly as vocal as the handsome devils of the Scarlet Crusade the last 15 years.

HIGH ELVES = HORDE BLOOD ELVES. IS LORE.
What? No. High elves are an Alliance race. They’ve been there since WC2. They’re still there in BFA (they’re walking around in Stormwind). They’ve been around in most major conflicts in between, and always fighting on the side of the Alliance.

They are different from blood elves in that they still choose to fight the Horde, and that they didn’t choose to snack on fel. They also didn’t get chased out of Dalaran when Jaina went nuts. And probably other differences I’m missing here…

THEY LOOK TOO SIMILAR.
Pandas are neutral. Pandas look exactly the same on both factions. Blizzard didn’t like what Pandas did to faction identity and silhouette recognition, okay, fine. But as they’ve proven with Nightborne and Void Elves, they could add different customization options, or even a different animation skeleton and/or model, to fix this problem.

THEY’RE STEALING A RACE FROM THE HORDE.
Horde already “stole” them from the Alliance and WC2 era lore. That’s probably why there’s so much outrage so many years later.

YOU GOT VOID ELVES ALREADY.
And they completely dropped the ball by not forcing all remaining high elves to transform into void elves, along the lines of what happened to worgen; I would agree. But the fact remains high elves still exist (again, they’re trotting around in BFA Stormwind) and in a way that is still separate enough from void elf lore to not be satisfied by just rolling a void elf character. High elves are the ones who have attempted to remain “pure” on down the years, refusing fel–and probably shadow. While void elves are like the power-hungry blood elves on steroids, delving into forbidden magic. Very different archetypes.

(And while I believe a good compromise for this issue would just be adding high elf appearances to void elf customization, it is also true that the void elf racial powers aren’t very in line with what we know of high elf powers.)

THEY’RE A TINY POPULATION.
So are void elves; there’s probably more high elves than there are void elves canonically!

Also mechagnomes. Also night elves (or now after Teldrassil went kaput) and nightborne. Even the Darkspear were just one tribe of trolls. The Mag’har as well–they were one fort’s worth of evacuees. The draenei too…Lightforged or otherwise! Worgen? Forsaken? I’m surely missing some races here… So, no, I don’t think that argument stands without cutting half of our other playable races.

Sure is great that the series ended at WC2 and didn’t say… have a sequel where the Elves broke ties with the Humans due to the Humans attempting to wipe them all out as a race…

Horde stole an Alliance race, not the other way around.

I played Warcraft 3. Curse of the Blood Elves is specifically labeled as “Alliance Campaign”.

It’s really kinda weird how the Humans abandoned the Blood elves to their fate, then punished them with mass execution for having the temerity to do what they could to survive, and that’s supposed to mean they should love the Alliance?

I love how all the antis keep ignoring those humans are now the forsaken it was the kingdom of lord not stormwind. Stormwind was still recovering after being canonically burned the ground by the orcish horde in wc1.
