Just give the alliance high elves already

There is no evidence to support this idea.

In fact, evidence points to the contrary. They’ve said they have no plans for future allied races, let alone ones coming as soon as prepatch.

There’s big, gaping holes left in the embassy. And introducing them when there’s levelling changes in the prepatch seems like a solid idea.

We already have the EXP buff. Add in the allied race when it’s changed, and boom. Print money.

You create the character, get into the game, then he/she blows up in a spectacular light/void mix.

You’re making arguments for why they should add them.

That is completely different than whether they will or not. They have said they will not. It doesn’t matter if you think they should.

You’re mistaken.

They said no new allied races at launch like the dark iron were.

Prepatch isn’t launch.

Rumor has it the “void” in Void Elves is only temporary and come the next expansion they will be back to their High Elven selves.

If that’s the hill you want to die on then I wish you the best luck.

I would love for it to be true. I’d also love for a million dollars to fall into my mailbox

Where did they say they don’t plan to continue allied races for the foreseeable future?

Could you source your claim?

Unlike your blind refusal there’s more reason for my argument to be true.

Any allied races planned for later in the Shadowlands?

Allied races should feel thematically appropriate. A lot of the races encountered at the end of Legion and BFA fit, as people we discovered become embroiled in the wars we’re fighting and both sides are looking for reinforcements, but Shadowlands doesn’t really have that feeling at the start. It’s something they’ll look at and see how players react to certain races, but nothing is planned for the launch of Shadowlands.

Okay buddy, keep telling yourself that

You understand that isn’t a no correct?

That it doesn’t even remotely allude to them never making Allied Races ever again?

If you trace my conversation with him, we were speaking to the addition of Sethrak, which have no place in the foreseeable future.

They are like the two minor races of Sholazaar Basin; they will be confined to the single zone of their expansion and we won’t ever see them again. Certainly won’t see them as an allied race.

No I got that part, not as interesting as your last bit here:

When the interview clearly didn’t say this, I think you may have meant “near future”.

Sethrak make as much sense as Vulpera did anyway, both are races helped by both factions in Vuldun in some way or another, only difference is Vulpera had a reputation you could gain, which is essentially just story, which can be given to any race at all to create an Allied Race, which is literally the case with races like Void Elves and Mag’har orcs.

yea I saw that interview

Not gonna listen, bro.

I don’t get the counter-arguments for this one, or how people don’t see how very bad the logic in them is.

HIGH ELVES = HORDE BLOOD ELVES. IS LORE.
What? No. High elves are an Alliance race. They’ve been there since WC2. They’re still there in BFA (they’re walking around in Stormwind). They’ve been around in most major conflicts in between, and always fighting on the side of the Alliance.

They are different from blood elves in that they still choose to fight the Horde, and that they didn’t choose to snack on fel. They also didn’t get chased out of Dalaran when Jaina went nuts. And probably other differences I’m missing here…

THEY LOOK TOO SIMILAR.
Pandas are neutral. Pandas look exactly the same on both factions. Blizzard didn’t like what Pandas did to faction identity and silhouette recognition, okay, fine. But as they’ve proven with Nightborne and Void Elves, they could add different customization options, or even a different animation skeleton and/or model, to fix this problem.

THEY’RE STEALING A RACE FROM THE HORDE.
Horde already “stole” them from the Alliance and WC2 era lore. That’s probably why there’s so much outrage so many years later.

YOU GOT VOID ELVES ALREADY.
And they completely dropped the ball by not forcing all remaining high elves to transform into void elves, along the lines of what happened to worgen; I would agree. But the fact remains high elves still exist (again, they’re trotting around in BFA Stormwind) and in a way that is still separate enough from void elf lore to not be satisfied by just rolling a void elf character. High elves are the ones who have attempted to remain “pure” on down the years, refusing fel–and probably shadow. While void elves are like the power-hungry blood elves on steroids, delving into forbidden magic. Very different archetypes.

(And while I believe a good compromise for this issue would just be adding high elf appearances to void elf customization, it is also true that the void elf racial powers aren’t very in line with what we know of high elf powers.)

THEY’RE A TINY POPULATION.
So are void elves; there’s probably more high elves than there are void elves canonically!

Also mechagnomes. Also night elves (or now after Teldrassil went kaput) and nightborne. Even the Darkspear were just one tribe of trolls. The Mag’har as well–they were one fort’s worth of evacuees. The draenei too…Lightforged or otherwise! Worgen? Forsaken? I’m surely missing some races here… So, no, I don’t think that argument stands without cutting half of our other playable races.

YOU’RE JUST WHINING AND BLIZZ SAID NO/GET OVER IT.
And this is when I think you’re more butthurt over this than I, and stop trying to have a rational debate with you…

I never understood this debate… I’m not against high elves, but you either believe that:

HEs/BEs/VEs are the same race with different magical properties. In which case, they already exist for both the Alliance (VEs) and the horde (BEs).

Or…

HEs/BEs/VEs are different species now. In which case, didn’t Blizzard come out and say that there isn’t enough of a population of pure blood HEs to be a playable race anymore?

Again, I’m not against the idea, but it doesn’t seem feasible from a lore perspective.

(Also, I wrote all that out only to realize this is an old thread. Why was this necro’d?)

No, sethrak is a poor race choice for anyone as it is under developed.

They aren’t Blood Elves have evolved.
