Is it better to just buy the conq boxes or should i buy direct pieces with the stats i want?
so far i only have my weapon and have the rating for the boxes.
Not sure if anybody has actually done the math, but I’ve just been gambling on a few crates initially as I’ll usually get a bunch of stuff I can use, even if the stats aren’t ideal. The more slots you have filled the less likely you are to get a useful piece.

Yep. First few upgrades are also pretty cheap, so it’s not too much of an investment to throw honor into it until you have enough conquest to buy a piece with your preferred stats.
I have geared 4 characters so far and I ahve found it’s good to buy maybe 5-6 conq boxes (assuming you do not get more than 1 duplicate), after that, the odds of you getting something you can use are very low due to the 5-6 unique slots + your leggo. At that point, it’s best to just spam q.
Takes roughly 15-20k conq to fully gear a character from boxes sent from a main. Up that to about 30k for ideal stats on each piece.

I usually just do boxes until i have at least half slots conquest and then i evaluate if its worth the RNG gamble to get a piece i already have
Feels bad opening 5 boxes and all 5 are cloaks lol

you guys aren’t coming into each alt with a ton of cq boxes mailed from another character? when i emptied out the cq coffers i was only missing 2 pieces of gear, and from there it’s just buy the missing pieces specifically and then honor upgrading through arena gives so much free cq you can do the same for the next alt
I thought I was done setting up alts and gambled away my conquest on stuff that wanted different secondaries or alts I probably just wouldn’t end up playing.
Also sent like 20 crates to my rogue hoping for mastery/crit stuff for Sub and just ended up getting like 19 haste pieces that I already had.

I just haven’t played since before 9.1 so I couldn’t feed my alts cuz my main needs feeding 
Feels right to me to fill 4 slots with boxes. If I open a weapon I start directing buying and don’t purchase the next box.
Unless you are talking alt, then I spam boxes with something geared until everything is at least purple.
boxes until you have like 10 slots, then purchase weapon if you didnt get it from a box, then go with the slots you didnt have filled by boxes and buy ideal stats, then replace none ideal stat slots with ideal stat slots

Kind of curious in my case, i just got enough to buy weapon, blow 1800 or risk it on boxes? I got hardly any gear so im kinda thinking boxes…
i think you should go boxes cuz if you hit the weapon that’s a massive saving. and if you don’t, you still get worthwhile pieces, just delaying weapon a bit longer.
It’s a gamble but I like to do boxes on my alts. I farmed enough conq tonight doing 3’s on my shaman that I could send 8 boxes to my fresh 60 mage. 7 pieces were upgrades although only 1 piece had the stats I wanted. I went from like 140 i-level to 200 in pvp. If I had spent the time farming conq for individual pieces, I would only have like 2 pieces. I got 2 dupes (crit dagger.) I consider this really lucky. I sent like 10 boxes to my priest and got like 4 boots and 3 cloaks. I still prefer boxes.
