Just admit Pathfinder was a failed social experiment

Agree. Although imo some sort of rep requirement would not be so bad, if was with a faction that was relevant to flight. I mean it kind of made sense with the araokoa bird people in wod. And the highmountain skyhorn tribe in Legion. But the sabercat people in wod? Or the mana addict nightbourne in Legion?

Hilarious seeing some people still proclaiming that WOD lost subs due to lack of flying while Classic (A version of wow with no flight) is getting all this hype and anticipation.

Stay classy GD.

It is definitely not a failure, because it does exactly what they want it to.

so you say but theres no denying the coincidental timing of it or do you really believe there is no direct link between the two

bottom line is Blizzard is slowly destroying WoW as well as their company’s own reputation with the constant hubris and “you think you do but you really don’t” levels of condescending attitude toward the players

and to make it worse there’s plenty of others willing to stroke the development teams ego by never disagreeing with them and challenging them to rise to the occasion and make the game better

You laugh at the truth, eh? Guess you weren’t playing back then and reading the forums. There were thousands of threads about it. We know, even if you feel the need to pretend it didn’t happen.

Terrain in vanilla was designed to be traveled, not to impede and slow down progress.

There are an enormous number of players. I’ve been here since release and whenever anything happens that irritates even a very small percentage of the total playerbase the forums are flooded with posts/threads. Forum posters in any game are normally a very small percentage of the overall population and it is unclear how representative they may be of the total playerbase.

Raid, or die expansion with nothing to do outside of the garrison didn’t help for sure. Flight was just the final straw for a lot of folks.

Having certain zones that don’t have flying is fine, but basic quest hubs should have flying. I have 8 120s that have already quested on the ground, would it really be so bad to let me fly my next 4 toons around while questing? How about just the zones I completed? What is the point of tying a rep grind to flying? You think it makes us want to stay subbed? Wrong, it makes us pissed off to grind what we don’t want to grind. Let rep give mounts and toys and pets and patterns and gear. Let flying be based on completing a quest zone’s quests.

Seriously, stop making us repeat content so much just to use what we already earned and did. Rep grinds and flight don’t logically go together.

Yup I was there.

Yawwwn. Your delusions are no longer fun too may I add.

You are lying. There were thousands of threads about flight.

Many players said they were leaving and did leave. There was much creative moderation that removed civil pro-flight threads while leaving up insulting threads by anti-flight trolls.

But then, you certainly have a reputation that precedes you.

It will be hilarious to see all the classic scrubs go nuts after a month and come back to retail.

I disliked handing out flying so early in BC and WLK due to my realm being 80% horde and alliance couldn’t travel 10 feet without being ganked. Back then, I recommended gating flying to 6 months into expansion, so that we had a possibility to level. But that issue is gone now. That reason for taking away flying is over.

Nb4 this thread is hijacked by the but back in the prehistoric days classic crowd lol.

Why would they go nuts? I’m looking forward to Classic. I’d love it if for no other reason than getting back to the world before Cata. To many of us it is about the journey. I don’t care how long it takes me to get somewhere.

In retail I use flight when it is available because it is, well, available. I don’t really care if it is in game or not. If it isn’t I’ll just use whatever mode of transportation is available, just like everyone else. In Vanilla I was almost 60 before I could afford riding and I was 60 for a good while before I could afford my epic mount (on my original NE Priest).

P.S. And I rode circles around my Pally friend who didn’t have his epic mount yet, bad Priest

if I wanted a game with flat terrain 2D objects and a lackluster plot as well as no flight id just go pick up a copy of Minecraft

I expected more out of Blizzard why not step up and bring your A game? this is your chance to shine so glow already blind us with the intensity of a 1000 suns this is their moment so make it happen

I hope you enjoy classic. You don’t care about flying. I love just flying around and looking down like a bird. Flying in game is exhilerating to me. I love flying mounts. I hate grinding rep. If you like grinding rep, good for you. It doesn’t mean I am wrong about what I like.

I would never claim anyone is wrong about what they like or dislike (unless it is illegal of course). There may well be people that never played classic and will come back to retail. Or, like myself, they may just enjoy both for what they offer and play both.

I liked flying in Vanilla (flight paths) and don’t mind flying now. It just isn’t, and never has been, either a game maker or a game breaker. I do have issues with flying when an expansion isn’t designed for it, but that discussion has been hashed to death in multiple threads.

Thousands? That’s a stretch mate, I never denied the forums absolutely blew up as usual, but MANY of those threads were made by the same users constantly.

I don’t buy it for a minute that most players quit WOD due to the lack of flying, they quit because it was a bad expansion.

Dozens of threads every day for most of 2 years = thousands.

Lots of different people started and posted in those threads. In fact the anti-flight trolls did a whole lot of spamming and were permitted to post just about anything.

For most players who quit it was a major factor. Many I have spoken with told me that for them it was the only one.
